Vivid Messes
MPP #58 – You're More Trouble Than You're Worth
Numair surveyed his study with a bemused expression. He knew he was absent-minded and forgetful and messy, but surely even he couldn't have created this mess. At least, not without remembering it. It was too…vivid, he thought as he eyed the pink and blue streaks on the wall.
Then he frowned. He didn't have any materials that colour. Where on earth had they come from? For one brief moment he thought maybe the pages were playing a practical joke, but he quickly dismissed it. He didn't always pay as much attention to his students as he should when he was teaching (he tended to get distracted by vague magical theories and go on long tangents), but even he could sense that they held him in a mixture of awe and fear. He didn't think they would have the nerve to break into his chambers. Then what…?
Numair sniffed the streaks and sneezed violently. Grimacing, he waved some smelling salts under his nose to get rid of the acidic scent. "I might have known," he muttered to himself before beginning a thorough search of his chambers. Curled up behind the privy was a small, very green looking dragon. Kitten trilled sadly when she saw him. Numair ran one hand through his messy hair and surveyed the mess in this room.
"You're very lucky you're so cute," he informed the youngster. "Otherwise, I don't know what would become of you!"
