There was no reason, now that the Dark Lord had so much power and that there was no sign of his downfall, that Bellatrix should not be able to enjoy her position as his favourite Death Eater. She might as well enjoy it, for she did not know when he would find a new favourite – though she assumed he never would.

She took full advantage of his favour, lording it over the others.

Bellatrix basked in the glory of being the Dark Lord's most faithful servant the way a cat basked in sunshine – though, in Bellatrix's case, the effect was nowhere near as endearing.
