My first Mortal Instruments fic, I usually do Psych, Alex Rider or Harry Potter. I know, pretty exciting. Anyway, Alec is actually my favorite character and for some reason I've always pictured him as being able to sing. Who says Jace gets to be the only one with musical talent?
Disclaimer: Yes, because my writing is definitely on par with that of Cassandra Clare. NOT!
Magnus lightly shut the door behind him.
He was exhausted.
He'd spent the day helping a particularly demanding client and was ready to collapse into his canary-colored comforter.
He shrugged off his brightly glittered jacket and went to hang it on the hook, only to find a dark coat, too plain to be his, residing there already. Smiling as he thought of its owner, he quietly hung his coat and removed his boots.
Hoping to surprise the blue-eyed shadowhunter, for once, he slunk towards his bedroom from which music was emitting softly.
All of his fatigue slipped away, leaving him with only the words Alec and bedroom floating through his mind...
Chairman Meow padded towards him, rubbing against his ankles. Magnus scratched his tiny head and put his finger to his lips to signal quiet, not that Chairman Meow understood.
He approached the bedroom door but stopped abruptly before entering.
"Hey Jude, don't make it bad. Take a sad song and make it better. Remember to..."
Alec must have put on his old, though compared to himself very new, Beatles record and Magnus could picture him sitting in the squishy armchair he'd claimed, reading and ancient demonic tome.
What he could not picture, however, was Alexander singing.
For it had to be him accompanying the track in an absentminded tenor.
Magus may be slightly biased, but it was beautiful. Surprisingly sweet in tone.
Alec seemed to be hardly trying, and Magnus wished he could watch the pure notes escape Alec's soft lips.
Who would have thought his stubbornly tough demon fighter could sing?
The song ended and he sighed regretfully.
"I know you're out there."
Magnus jumped, damn shadowhunters; they were so hard to sneak up on.
He unceremoniously flung open the door with a wide grin.
Alec was sitting exactly where Magnus knew he'd be: reclining in a black, sparkle-free, armchair that Magus had "bought" just for him. An ancient book was sitting in his lap.
Well, we can't have that. Magus thought as he advanced toward him, saying, "Hello, darling."
He callously threw the book to the floor and changed Alec's noise of protest into a grunt as he heavily plopped down in its place.
He wrapped his arms around Alec's neck and stared directly into his bright blue eyes.
"So... anything you want to share?"
Alec's face scrunched up in confusion, rather adorably Magnus thought, the slightest hint of a blush on his ivory cheeks.
"What? Um, no."
Magnus winked mischievously. "Don't worry, angel. It'll be our little secret."
With that said he leaned forward to capture Alec's soft lips.
Maybe they could harmonize.
I see Magnus as pretty complex so hopefully he wasn't too OOC. Anyway, let me know what you think. AKA REVIEW!
