Scorpius gripped the small box in his pocket tightly. He took a deep breath and knocked on the office door of Ronald Weasley. This is why I wasn't sorted into Gryffindor, he thought to himself. If I were braver I'd march right in there and say- "Come in," he heard Ron say through the door, interrupting his thoughts. Scorpius pushed the door open and walked in. Ron scowled at the boy in front of him. "Malfoy," he drawled, leaning back and crossing his arms over his chest.
Scorpius shifted his weight nervously. "Mr. Weasley, I would like to…" he swallowed. "I would like to propose to your daughter," he finished. Ron's mouth dropped open in shock. He stood up angrily. "WHAT?" he snapped. Scorpius flinched slightly. "I want to propose to your daughter," Scorpius said, more firmly this time. Ron stared at the boy who was the same height as him. "You interrupted me at work just to ask if you could propose to Rose?" he snapped. Scorpius looked confused. "Yes…?" he said unsurely.
Ron's face broke into a grin and he pulled Scorpius in for a hug. "Welcome to the family, Malfoy," he said. Scorpius stepped back, shocked. "Mr. Weasley? Are you okay?" Scorpius asked, concerned at his strange behavior.
The last time the two of them had spoken, it was before Scorpius took Rose out for their 3-year anniversary. Ron made sure to tell Scorpius to stay at least three feet away from Rose the entire time, and that he would check both his and Rose's wand when they returned. Of course as soon as the two had apperated away from the house, they were linked together, Scorpius' arm around Rose's slim waist, Rose's arm around Scorpius'. But true to his word, Ron did check the spells on both 17-year-old's wands to make sure they hadn't done anything…inappropriate.
So, Scorpius was shocked when Ron immediately agreed with his idea of proposal. "I'm fine. I knew you would be coming around to ask me soon anyway, and I know that Rose loves you very much, so," Ron said, sitting back down at his desk. Scorpius stood there, shocked. "I do know that you only asked me for Rose's sake. I know that you would have proposed to her, even if I said no. That shows how much you love Rose," he continued. "I thought you hated me, because I'm a pure-blood, and because of my father," Scorpius said, worriedly. "I've never had a problem with you before, but I'm the dad, I'm supposed to act like I hate my daughter's boyfriend. And it doesn't matter about being a pure-blood, because I know that once you marry my half-blood daughter, your family won't be pure anymore."
Scorpius smiled hugely. "Oh, thank you sir," he said happily. "I do have one question for you," Ron said as Scorpius turned to the door. Scorpius stiffened and he turned around slowly. "Did your father like the idea of you proposing to Rose?" he asked. "No," Scorpius said, "He threw a fit." Ron smiled evilly. "Perfect. You can go now, son," he said, turning back to his work. Scorpius smiled and pushed the door open.
That was easy, a lot easier than I expected. Now, to plan the perfect date, and find the perfect moment to ask her.
