Rating: Eventual M – this will be a slash fic so if you don't like that kind of thing you know where to go.

Merlin sat silently on the cold, hard floor of his cell, head bowed with his eyes screwed up tight as he struggled to hold back the tears that kept threatening to brim over. Slowly, he moved his right hand over to his left arm and pinched sharply, trying for the sixth time that night to wake himself from the hellish nightmare he'd found himself in. Letting out a shaky sight, Merlin opened his eyes and raised his head to rest it against the wall.

"This can't be happening." he whispered hoarsely "They were never meant to find out this way."

The images of his friends' reactions flashed across his mind and it pained him to remember them; Gaius' broken one, Gwen's terrified, Gwaine's betrayed and shocked and then there was Arthur's...that was the one that had hurt the most. Never had he such anger and hatred in Arthur's eyes, never had Arthur looked at him with such disgust, not even during their first few days of meeting one another. As a tear slowly trickled down his cheek, Merlin choked back a sob

"No tears."

He told himself quietly and roughly brushed the offending droplet away. He could hear the faint voices of the guards echoing down the corridor and scrambled to his feet, ignoring the light-headed feeling he got of rising too quickly, and pressed himself against the bars, straining to hear what they were saying. Realising they were merely playing another gambling game, Merlin sunk to the floor. He knew it must nearly be dawn. He knew they would be coming for him soon.

I know it's very short but this is all I've got so far and want some feedback to know if it's worth continuing. Review please! THANKS!
