Between Heaven and Hell

"A long time ago in the land of Heaven, there lived a beautiful, young angel. She was a stunning creature with hair as brown as the great pinewood, and eyes the color of freshly picked hazelnuts. Over the years, she had grown pure, milky white wings and possessed a smile that could take a human's breath away. She was the epitome of a perfect angel, yet…this angel was different.

She was a curious little being and questioned everything, especially when it came to the Devils realm. Everyday, when the sun began to set, she would fly to the very edges of Heaven and stare out into the abyss beneath her. Here she would spend her evening looking at the dark realm below. How, she wondered as she saw the Devils walking and talking about, could creatures such as the Devils live? Surely they weren't born with evil in their soul. Oh how deep in her heart, she wished she could be able to speak with one and ask them about their way of life.

Now, neither the God of Heaven nor any of the other Angels understood why this Angel would venture out and observe their evil counterpart every evening. The only one who came close to understanding was the Angel's best friend, who occasionally watched her observe from afar, though even she didn't have a definite explanation. But since this Angel never acted upon her curiosity, the God of Heaven let her be, for things were perfect in the Realm of Heaven.

Everything changed, however, when one evening she saw a Devil staring back at her.

He was a unique creature. Although he had eyes that glowed charcoal and a strong masculine build like many of those around him, his wings were what made him stand out to her amongst the rest. Larger than most of those around him, his wings were the color of blood and fire.

On the evening of a lunar eclipse, their curiosity got the better of them and they began to communicate. They agreed that on every full moon, secretly they would travel to the only known existing land between Heaven and Hell, now called Gakuen Alice. Oh the joys they felt as they discovered more about each other's realms and the way they both lived.

Everything was perfect.

Until they fell in love.

Although rare, Angels and Devils could talk with each other but could never join together to be mates. It was strictly forbidden, an unspoken rule between the two realms. At this time however, the rule was never enforced. That is, until the Angel fell pregnant with the Devil's child.

The Gods were outraged at the news. Never before has their unspoken rule been broken, and they had no choice but to punish the couple for their crimes. So thus, one would fall to the land called Earth, while the other would remain in their realm under permanent arrest. Both were then cursed to experience the cruelest of deaths when their time came, and were to never see each other for the rest of eternity.

So, the Angel fell to Earth, while the love of her life remained imprisoned in Hell. Hearing of the news, the Angel's best friend decided to watch over her, claiming she would be her Guardian Angel until the end.

On the night of a full moon, a baby girl was born. She looked like the exact replica of the Fallen Angel. But in the midst of the night, the baby girl vanished. And as the Gods curse rang throughout the realms, the cruelest of events began to unravel.

Awoken to the absence of her child, the Fallen Angel could not handle the anger and sadness that festered within her broken heart. Her wings grew dark, as did her heart. Knowing that this was the workings of the curse, with the last ounce of goodness within her heart, she stabbed a shard of glass into her chest and her dead body vanished into thin air.

The news of her death traveled to her best friend. Shocked by the tragedy, she delivered the news back to Heaven. The God of Heaven fell into submission upon hearing her suicide. He knew he had done wrong by agreeing to the madness of a curse, and broke of guilt, leaving a pile of white feathers behind.

The news of their deaths traveled to Hell. Enraged by his lover's death, the heartbroken Devil broke free of his imprisonment and flew to the God of Hell where the source of his anger lay. Overtaken by his rage, the Devil blew up the God of Hell's castle, and from his fire, the Pit of Hell was created, a large fiery black hole that fell to no end. Pushing the God of Hell into the Pit, the Devil then jumped along with him.

Because of these events, three unbreakable rules were created between the land of Heaven and Hell.

The first, the land of the Heavens are the only ones responsible for good. The depths of Hell on the other hand are the only ones responsible for evil. An exception to this rule is as states. If a devil carries out remarkably good deeds in an extended amount of time, or if an angel carries out remarkably sinful deeds in an extended amount of time, both said parties will have no choice but to switch roles as an angel or a devil.

The second, on every full moon there will be a truce between these two realms. If said realms fail to establish a truce, an immediate change in ruling must be made.

And the third, neither angel nor devil shall fall in love with each other. There is no exception to this rule.

Dire consequences will be given to those who break these rules, and the curse from the original Gods of Heaven and Hell will rain upon those who dare to.
