No. No. His baby girl was too young. Only 19. Still a baby. She was still his little girl. No. No!
"Jim, sweetie, I know you're upset, but she's an adult. Living on her own. She's married-" Jim cut Elisabeth off. "She's only been married for three months, Liz! That... baby was conceived on their honeymoon! Look- Maddy and Mark are too young to be having a baby!" Jim cried.
"No they're not. We had Josh before we were married two years." She said.
They were laying in bed, discussing the fact that Maddy was expecting her first child. "Now look, her and Mark are happy, in love- and married! It's not like she's sixteen! Now let's go to sleep!" Elisabeth groaned.
The months went on. As the months went on, Maddy's stomach grew and grew. Her and Mark decided the baby would be a surprise.
Of course Liz would deliver it in the infermary. Jim still thought they weren't ready. Even though they had a bed, clothes, cloth diapers, and plenty of blankets.
They were ready. Jim just refused to believe it.
They estimated the baby was due in the winter time, around when Christmas would be.
No one but Mark and Maddy knew the names they'd chosen. They'd tell people once the child was cleaned, calmed, and in Maddy's arms.
"Mom? I... I think it's time." Maddy said, waddling into the infermary, one hand on her lower stomach, the other placed on her back.
"Alright! Nurse! Go get mark and Jim. Maddy, come with me to the birthing area." Elisabeth instructed, taking Maddy by the hand.
"Oh Mom! It hurts!" Maddy sobbed, a wet cloth on her forehead.
With all the advanced medical technology, the only thing that remained the same was how babies were born.
Painful and slow.
"I know, and only one more centimeter to go and you can get an epidural." Liz cooed.
"I hate Mark. He did this to me! Where's him and Dad!" Maddy groaned, looking for them. "They're out chasing a T-Rex. They should be here soon." Liz said.
"I can't believe I'm going to be a father soon." Mark gushed. They'd just finished chasing off the T-Rex, and were loading up the jeep.
"Mark? Dad? This is Josh. Maddy's having the baby. Get home!" Josh said over the radio.
"Copy that Josh."
Jim turned to see Mark, on the ground, out cold. Jim groaned, picking his son-in-law up, and putting him in the back of the jeep, driving home.
"Ow!" Maddy groaned, tears going down her cheeks as more formed in her eyes.
"I know. I know. One more centimeter and you can start pushing." Liz said.
"Where the hell is Mark! He needs to be here!" Maddy yelped.
"Maddy! Maddy I'm here I'm so sorry!" Mark cried, running in an kissing his wife. Maddy wrapped her arms around him tightly.
"Guys? It's time to start pushing." Liz said.
Jim paced outside the infermary, back and forth, completely nervous.
Josh and Zoe were with him, wanting to see their niece or nephew.
"Daddy? When can we see the baby?" Zoe asked. Jim sighed. "I don't know sweetie. Whenever it's born." He said, hugging his youngest.
Suddenly Liz came rushed out, panting slightly, a smile on her face.
"It's a girl."
Josh, Jim, and Zoe gasped, grinning. "How's she and Maddy?" Zoe asked. "They're both healthy and happy." Liz said.
As they went inside, they all gasped when they saw Maddy holding a little pink bundle with a white knitt hat.
"Oh sis, she's beautiful." Josh said.
"What's her name?" Zoe asked.
"Guys, this is Rosalie. Rosalie Elisabeth Reynolds." Maddy said, a smile on her face.
Elisabeth gasped. "Oh Maddy. That's so sweet." She cooed. "Daddy? Would you like to hold her?" Maddy asked. Jim nodded, taking his granddaughter in his arms.
She was beautiful. Rosalie looked just like Maddy did when she was born. Small and pink with a head full of dark hair.
"She looks just like you Maddy, except with Mark's complextion." Josh said, stroking his nieces cheek.
"Thank you Josh. Thank you." Maddy said, smiling.
Rosalie was perfect.
