AN: So Yllimilly is still on break. I am writing this by myself for now. I really hope to finish this story even if it is all by myself. The chapters may be shorter than they were before because I am not nearly as talented as Yllimilly. I just hope I am enough. It has been two years since I have really written anything and a lot has happened to me. I just hope it doesn't affect my writing too much. Anyway, here is the next chapter.

I am already working on the next one, so hopefully it wont be too much of a wait.

Chapter Nine

The smell of a home cooked dinner wafted through the air. Chicken yakisoba was one of Anzu's favorite meals. She heard a stirring at the door the moment she looked at the clock. Her father walked in. It as a little past six thirty; a little later than usual. But her mom was unfazed. She smiled, glowed as she did nearly every day that her father came home. Anzu wondered how her mom could stand how much her dad worked. But she supposed it had something to do with him loving them so much he was giving his life so they could afford the things that kept them a little more than comfortable.

"So how's school going?"

Anzu shrugged, looking intently at her noodles. She started stirring them in her plate with her chopsticks - not that she wanted to annoy her mom, it's just that she didn't feel hungry. Even though chicken yakisoba was her favorite.

"It was fine."

"That's nice," said her father, who had just sat down at the table. "Michiko, I'm going back tomorrow. Need to put out some fires before the client comes in on Monday."

"Oh."

Anzu's dad worked at an up and coming I.T. company he'd started with one of his college friends. That he had to work on the weekends wasn't anything new, but somehow it irritated Anzu. Angered her for some reason. She put down her chopsticks.

"I'm not really hungry. Can I go do my homework?"

She looked at her mom for permission. The woman was at a loss for words.

"Sure, honey," she said as if this was a temporary solution.

...

Anzu flopped on the bed, taking in a gasp of air from her pillow. Everything was going so wrong. Her dad was going to be away from family all weekend once again… not even one day off all year. She knew she should expect it by now but…

Yugi lied to her. She broke up with him. And worst of all, Miho was right…

Two light tappings came to the door. "Honey, can I come in?" her mother cooed through the door.

Anzu straightened herself up and instinctively wiped the tears she didn't even know were there. Her mom came in without any real response as always and gently sat on the bed next to Anzu wrapping an arm around her daughter.

"I know there is something wrong and you aren't telling me."

Anzu nodded.

"Are you going to tell me?"

Anzu shook her head.

"I know this has to be more than about your father being away more."

Anzu looked into her mother's eyes as she pulled away.

"You can tell me anything…" she paused. "You know what always cheers me up? Shopping with my best friends. Why don't you go shopping with Miho? And maybe Yugi might be the type to go with you?"

Anzu couldn't help but glare briefly at her mother but quickly tried to make herself expressionless. "I really don't think that would help me at all…"

Anzu finished her homework and there was still plenty of time to go out and do something. But there was nothing she wanted more than to just get back with Yugi. "Not even a day and I already miss him so much it hurts. Maybe Miho wasn't right… maybe he really is bisexual. But if he is, I might not be good enough for him…" She started crying softly again. "I really can't…
She cradled her cell phone with Yugi's number on the screen.

It was now midnight and Anzu still found herself staring at the screen with Yugi's number on it. She repeatedly kept her phone from shutting off and now has it plugged into the wall charging it. As Anzu laid in her bed crying, she remembered a special moment with Yugi… the day they became friends.

It was an ordinary day in first grade when she noticed the shy boy from class tucked into a corner during recess. She was initially playing tag with her friends. The boy was focusing hard on something which peaked her curiosity greatly.

"Bye guys, I am going to do something else." Anzu shouted at her running and screaming friends.

She ran over to the strange boy.

"Hey, why are you over here all by yourself?"

"I'm playing this game." The boy showed her the game.

"Oh, What is the game about?"

"It is a fighting game. You wanna try it?" He held the game out slightly offering it to her.

Anzu was shocked. She had never played an electronic game before. And she would have never thought he would share a game with someone he didn't even know.

"Yes!" She held out her hands eagerly to receive it.

He handed it to her. "OK, so this is punch and this is to kick and the super power is controlled by this third button. But you can't always use the super so you have to wait for this meter up top to be full. Oh and this button is to start!"

Immediately upon hearing how to start, Anzu started the game.

She was kicking and punching, and kicking and punching when suddenly a giant rat person showed up. She tried using the super on him but he dodged it. And then he killed her.

"Aw man! Can I try again?"

"Yeah sure!" The boy was excited as she was.

"What's your name anyway?"

"Yugi"

"I'm Anzu."

"I know. You are in my class." The both blushed.

She started the game again. And once again she died when the giant rat person killed her. "Arg!" She didn't even ask to start the game over when she started it again but Yugi didn't mind. He liked watching other people play. She died again and again and again. At the same part. Each time. And each time her expression got more and more focused.

She died again. At the same part. Again. That stupid rat man! she thought. Anzu couldn't take it anymore and she threw the game on the ground as hard as she could.

Yugi immediately dropped to the ground to rescue his game. Unfortunately, the fragile plastic broke into three pieces and the screen was cracked. The boy looked up tears in his eyes.

Anzu realizing what she had done shouted, "I'm sorry!"

Yugi laughed sheepishly. "It's Ok Anzu."

Yugi walked away cradling his shattered game.

When the next day rolled around and Anzu saw him in her class, she didn't know what to do. She wished she had known what could make it up to him. But before she could find time during class to make him a card, it was recess again.

She thought she could sneak past him to get to the field were all her friends would be playing tag. But she was wrong.

"Hey Anzu! I brought a new game. This one will be easier I promise! Wanna play?"

And that moment cemented in her that Yugi was the nicest kid on the planet. Probably the nicest person she would ever meet.

And she knew she had to get him back. She just needed to figure out what she really wanted. "
