Meet Me at the Tree
Andromeda looked up from her book to see an owl swoop in to the Slytherin common room. It was a regular occurrence, of course, and she was just about to return her attention to the text (and very interesting it was too, a muggle book all about the solar system), when she realised she knew that owl, and tried hard to maintain her poker face, mixed feelings of annoyance and joy threatening to overcome her.
Sure enough, the tawny brown owl swooped down upon her, and dropped a letter into her lap.
Her heart was beating hard in her chest now, and it was getting even more difficult to retain her grin.
"Dearest An,"
Andromeda rolled her eyes - always so corny.
"Dearest An,
Meet me at the tree.
Love always,
T.T "
Andromeda couldn't help smiling a little as she saw the little badger he'd drawn next to his initials.
She looked around warily for her sisters before standing up; she was almost certain that Cissy was getting suspicious, and really, the last thing she needed was Bella finding out about her secret relationship with a muggleborn. She didn't like to think of what her dear sister would do to her Hufflepuff boyfriend.
Luckily the common room was almost empty, and neither of her sisters were in sight. She carefully placed her book upon the side table, and walked out of the dingy room, in the self-assured way in which the Blacks were taught to walk from an early age. It had never come naturally to Andromeda though.
It wasn't long before she was pacing along the edge of the forest, looking around self consciously for witnesses. She approached their tree with caution, before slipping behind it, a grinning Ted Tonks already waiting there for her.
"You idiot," she said as soon as they were sure no-one was around. "You know you're not supposed to send letters to my common room. It's far too conspicuous."
Ted was unfazed, as she knew he would be.
"I just couldn't go much longer without seeing your beautiful face," he replied, kissing her neck.
"Ted! What if my sisters had seen, and demanded to see the letter?"
"Oh shush. I took precautions, no full name, nothing to identify the purpose…"
"'Love Always,'" she quoted.
He smirked. "Well we're going to have to tell them at some point…"
"No. They'll rip you to shreds."
"Me? I can take care of myself." Andromeda gave him a doubtful look. "What!" he said indignantly.
She laughed, "Shut up and kiss me."
"With pleasure," he breathed, one hand either side of her body as she leaned against the tree.
She linked her hands together behind his neck as he lowered his lips to hers.
And then, when their lips touched, it didn't matter any more. None of it. Because they were Andromeda and Ted, not Black and Tonks, pureblood and muggleborn.
And that was the way it should be, Andromeda thought, as his arms wound around her waist.
