Artemis stared at the drain, the water hitting his head, dribbling down his neck and chest, before dropping onto the tub floor.
He held on tightly to his legs, simply staring at that drain, at the water. The tub is inclinded downward, towards the point of disposal, the drain. The drain is essentially one long pipe, connected to other smaller pipes. He reached out, caressing the outline of the drain as if it was a new born, before pulling his hand back.
He heard someone enter the room, although they were trying their best to be quiet. He didn't have to look up to know who it was.
"What happened?"
Artemis gave no response, still staring at the drain. It's rubber. Too soft to be metal, although the paint gave it the same shine as metal. Clever.
"Alright, you don't have to talk."
A large man twice Artemis's size scooped him into his arms, wrapping Artemis in a towel as quickly and easily as he would a new born. Artemis's eyes snapped away from the drain to look up at the man.
Butler.
He was carrying him back to Artemis's room. Probably to put him into clothes, and bandage the cuts he retained.
"I heard what happened. Ms. Fowl was screaming at him. I'm surprised you didn t hear that. Myles offered to help me with you, but I thought it might be best if I..."
He trailed off, but Artemis didn't respond, looking at Butler's jaw. Firm and rippling off the skin almost. He knew Butler had strong teeth if not for what he s seen him done then for the fact everything on Butler is the very definition of strong.
"I'm so sorry, Artemis. About what happened. I didn't think he'd..."
Butler retained composure, though a little emotion leaked into and dripped over his words. Artemis continued to stay silent.
Butler opened the door, and closed it once they were inside. He laid Artemis on the bed, and pulled underwear and a shirt on to him, before bandaging his wounds.
"I almost killed him. I was about to open the door and kill him. But he left before I lost control. I don't know where he went, though. I know he won t be back."
Artemis was mixed when he heard "won't be back". Logically, that was the most wonderful thing he could have heard. And it was also devastating.
He continued to not speak.
Butler finished the handiwork quickly, piecing each bandage on carefully and smoothly, making sure everything was perfect. At this point, his talking was numbing himself. He wasn't watching the things he said anymore, simply talking. "I just can't believe it. Foaly told us fairy magic could have an effect, but that's almost impossible."
He stood up, putting everything away. Artemis's wounds will heal quickly.
"I just can't believe he'd rape you."
Butler hesitated, before kissing Artemis on the forehead. Artemis let him, knowing he had the best at heart.
"I'm sorry."
He tucked Artemis into the sheets, and turned off the lights.
Artemis stared at a tile on the wall. This house is made of marble, isn't it?
