On the second of May, 1998, the Battle of Hogwarts transpires. Tom Marvolo Riddle is vanquished after nearly thirty years of conflict, and the Wizarding world is saved.

From the second of May to the twenty-fifth of August, 1998, countless wizards and witches from the United Kingdom and Ireland, as well as from abroad, help reconstruct and recover Hogwarts. Also, during this time period, many of the Hogwarts professors, as well as several qualified Hogwarts alumni, concentrate their efforts on helping all fifth year and seventh year students prepare to sit their O.W.L.s and N.E.W.T.s at the end of August. Meanwhile, all Muggle-borns, as well as all members of Dumbledore's Army, are given the opportunity to retake their unfinished year.

On the third of May, Minerva McGonagall is officially designated the title of headmistress of Hogwarts and Pomona Sprout is named deputy headmistress.

On the seventh of May, 1998, the funeral of Remus and Nymphadora Lupin takes place. They, along with fifty-two other unfortunate Battle casualties—including Terry Boot, Colin Creevey, Severus Snape, and Fred Weasley—are laid to rest at the Hogsmeade Memorial Cemetery over the course of the next two weeks. The Hogsmeade Memorial Cemetery is a newly constructed cemetery on the far end of the High Street in Hogsmeade, reserved uniquely for those who died fighting Voldemort in the Battle of Hogwarts—constructed in Hogsmeade so as to maintain close proximity to Hogwarts.

On the eighth of May, 1998, the funeral of Fred Weasley takes place.

On the twelfth of May, 1998, Kingsley Shacklebolt is formally sworn in as Minister for Magic. He immediately surrounds himself with people he knows and trusts, appointing Hit Witch and Order of the Phoenix member Hestia Jones as his Senior Undersecretary, Auror Gawain Robards as head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, and immensely talented Law Enforcement witch Audrey Smith as his Junior Assistant. Meanwhile, longtime Auror Deirdre Savage replaces Robards as head of the Auror Office.

On the twenty-sixth of May, 1998, Percy Weasley is granted a respectable position in the Department of Magical Transportation by Kingsley Shacklebolt, and is named an "honorary member" of the Minister's office. Kingsley values and regularly seeks Percy's opinions regarding the reconstruction of the Ministry of Magic.

On the twenty-seventh of May, 1998, Charlie Weasley sorrowfully bids his family goodbye, and departs for Romania once again.

On the second of June, 1998, an enormous memorial statue—a phoenix, engraved with the names of every single individual who died as a result of the First and Second Wizarding Wars of the United Kingdom—is erected in the Ministry of Magic's atrium, to commemorate the end of an era.

On the twentieth of June, 1998, Kingsley Shackebolt calls one final meeting of the Order of the Phoenix. At the end of the meeting, the Order is, at long last, disbanded.

On the twentieth of July, 1998, twenty-one-year-old Hogwarts alumnus, Slytherin Adrian Pucey, takes Minerva McGonagall's place as the Transfiguration professor; thirty-three-year-old Hogwarts alumnus, Ravenclaw Benedict Launceleyn, is hired as the Muggle Studies professor; and fifty-year-old Order of the Phoenix member, Dedalus Diggle, steps in temporarily as Defense Against the Dark Arts professor. Due to a lack of Gryffindors among the staff, Minerva McGonagall retains her status as head of Gryffindor house.

From the second of August to the eighth of August, 1998, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger travel to Australia to track down Hermione's parents and reverse their memory charms. They are successful.

On the twenty-seventh of August, 1998, Harry Potter and Ron Weasley move out of the Burrow and into George's flat above Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes.

On the first of September, 1998, Ginny Weasley and Hermione Granger, along with their close friend, Luna Lovegood, depart for Hogwarts to complete their final year of schooling. Apart from Hermione, thirteen students from her year also return to complete their "unfinished" seventh year: four Gryffindors, Lavender Brown, Seamus Finnigan, Parvati Patil, and Dean Thomas; five Hufflepuffs, Susan Bones, Justin Finch-Fletchley, Roger Malone, Oliver Rivers, and Sophie Roper; and four Ravenclaws, Michael Corner, Kevin Entwhistle, and Anthony and Padma Goldstein.

On the second of September, 1998, Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Neville Longbottom are recruited to the Auror Department by Kingsley Shacklebolt.

On the fourteenth of September, 1998, Angelina Johnson is promoted to the starting team of the Ballycastle Bats, after having been a reserve Chaser for two years.

On the twentieth of November, 1998, Hannah Abbott is hired as a St. Mungo's trainee—despite her lack of N.E.W.T. results—due to her admirable efforts during the Battle of Hogwarts in tending to wounded and unconscious combatants.

On the twenty-ninth of March, 1999, Hannah Abbott abandons her Healer training at St. Mungo's in order to accept the rights to the Leaky Cauldron from her great uncle, Tom Abbott, following his retirement.

On the first of April, 1999, after a year of running the joke shop as an Owl-order service, George Weasley reopens Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes, with the assistance and guidance of his younger brother, Ronald; his girlfriend, Angelina Johnson; his best friend, Lee Jordan; and his only shop assistant at the time, Verity Page.

On the second of May, 1999, in honor of the first anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts, a memorial banner is hung above the double doors of the castle's Entrance Hall. This banner is embroidered with the names and Hogwarts houses of every single individual who died fighting Voldemort during the battle. Emblazoned across the middle of the banner in large, looping golden text are three words: 'The Fallen Fifty.'

On the twenty-sixth of June, 1999, Ginny Weasley, Hermione Granger, and Luna Lovegood graduate from Hogwarts. Hermione later moves into a flat in Diagon Alley with Ginny, not far from where Harry and Ron live with George.

On the sixth of August, 1999, Ginny Weasley joins the Holyhead Harpies as a reserve Chaser.

On the first of September, 1999, Hermione acquires a job in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures in the Ministry of Magic. Through this department, she manages to successfully establish many welfare rights for House-Elves, werewolves, and other magical creatures.

On the twenty-ninth of November, 1999, Bill and Fleur Weasley reveal that they are expecting their first child.

On the twenty-third of December, 1999, Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley are engaged. Not long after, Harry moves into Grimmauld Place with Ginny (where Kreacher is delighted to receive them), while Ron moves into Hermione's flat.

On the twenty-third of March, 2000, Harry and Ginny Potter move out of Grimmauld Place and into a cozy, French-style cottage in Godric's Hollow called 'Chez Poirier,' after Franc Poirier, the French Wizarding architect who designed it. Ron fondly rechristens the house 'Chez Potter.'

On the tenth of February, 2001, Ginny Potter is promoted to the Holyhead Harpies' starting team after an excellent match against the Ballycastle Bats.

On the nineteenth of September, 2001, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger are engaged.

On the twenty-second of September, 2001, Percy Weasley and Audrey Smith are married in a lavish ceremony at the Ignatia Wildsmith Banquet Hall in Diagon Alley.

On the tenth of February, 2003, Angelina Johnson takes maternity leave from the Ballycastle Bats upon discovering that she is two months pregnant, and she officially moves into George's flat above Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes.

On the first of September, 2003, Neville Longbottom officially takes over from Pomona Sprout as head of the Herbology department, upon Sprout's retirement. Charms professor Filius Flitwick replaces Sprout as deputy head of the school. Defense Against the Dark Arts professor Dedalus Diggle takes Sprout's place as head of Hufflepuff house.

On the ninth of September, 2003, Fred Jordan "Freddie" Weasley is born to George Weasley and Angelina Johnson. Lee Jordan and Alicia Spinnet are named his godparents.

On the third of March, 2004, Hermione is promoted to a high-ranking position in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. With the help of Minister for Magic Kingsley Shacklebolt, she begins to work towards eradicating biased pure-blood laws. She also continues to advance the rights of House-Elves, werewolves, and other magical creatures.

On the twenty-fifth of March, 2004, James Sirius Potter is born to Harry and Ginny Potter. Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger are named his godparents.

On the thirtieth of May, 2004, Neville Longbottom and Hannah Abbott are married at St. Jerome's Church in Godric's Hollow—the very same location that Neville's parents were married, on the very same date, twenty-seven years earlier.

On the nineteenth of July, 2004, Louis William Weasley is born to Bill and Fleur Weasley. Amelie Laurent, Fleur's old housekeeper in France and a second mother to Fleur, is named his godmother. Dedalus Diggle is named his godfather.

On the twenty-first of August, 2004, George Weasley and Angelina Johnson are married in a sweet, simple ceremony at the Ottery St. Catchpole village hall.

On the second of January, 2005, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger are married at the Godric's Hollow rose garden, after a record four-year engagement. Soon after, they purchase a beautifully furbished, Victorian townhouse in Muggle London.

On the third of June, 2005, Ginny Potter retires from the Holyhead Harpies, after she and Harry decide to have a second child. She later joins the Daily Prophet as a Quidditch correspondent.

On the second of February, 2006, Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy is born to Draco and Astoria Malfoy. Theodore and Daphne Nott become his godparents.

On the eighteenth of May, 2006, Albus Severus Potter is born at Hogwarts to Harry and Ginny Potter. Rubeus Hagrid is named one of Albus's two ("joint") godfathers, the other being Neville Longbottom. Later, Harry takes baby Albus for a walk around the castle grounds, and finally, to the Headmaster's office—to introduce him to his namesakes.

On the twenty-first of June, 2006, Rose Minerva Granger-Weasley is born to Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Harry and Ginny Potter are named her godparents.

On the twenty-third of June, 2006, Ron resigns from the Auror Office—with Harry's blessing—to help George full-time at Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes. George names him a co-proprietor of the shop.

On the nineteenth of November, 2006, George and Ron buy the old, abandoned Zonko's building in Hogsmeade and establish a Hogsmeade branch of Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes. They put longtime employee Verity Page in charge of the premises. Despite being considerably smaller than its Diagon Alley counterpart, the Hogsmeade branch attracts a large number of customers, particularly during official Hogsmeade Weekends and school holidays.

On the eighth of January, 2007, Hestia Jones resigns from her post as Senior Undersecretary to the Minister and is replaced by Audrey Weasley. Hestia Jones later takes over the position of head of the Defense Against the Dark Arts department at Hogwarts from her good friend Dedalus Diggle, as well as the title of head of Hufflepuff house.

On the second of February, 2007, Deirdre Savage retires as head of the Auror Office, and Harry Potter becomes the the youngest-ever head of office at the age of twenty-six.

On the sixth of February, 2007, Angelina retires from the Ballycastle Bats and begins working at the Department of Magical Games and Sports at the Ministry.

On the twelfth of October, 2007, Alice Augusta Longbottom is born to Neville and Hannah Longbottom. Ernie and Susan Macmillan are named her godparents.

On the twenty-seventh of October, 2007, Hugo Arthur Granger-Weasley is born to Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Minerva McGonagall is named godmother and Bill Weasley is named godfather.

Many members of the Wizarding community had expected Hermione Granger to run for the prestigious office, even though she had repeatedly dismissed the rumors.

On the fourteenth of August, 2021, Poppy Pomfrey retires from her long-held position as Hogwarts matron. She is replaced by Alicia Jordan and Hannah Longbottom, who split up the matron responsibilities, each working three-and-a-half days per week. This arrangement allows Hannah to see her husband more frequently while maintaining her ownership of the Leaky Cauldron.

On the fourth of July, 2023, the twenty-seventh anniversary of the death of Emmeline Vance, Calista Hestia Emmeline Shacklebolt is born to Kingsley Shacklebolt and Hestia Jones. Due to her ripe age of fifty-four, it takes Hestia several months to recover from childbirth, but both she and Calista are ultimately perfectly healthy. Kingsley and Hestia adore their only daughter. Teddy and Victoire Lupin are named her godparents.

On the twenty-fifth of December, 2023, Harry Potter bequeaths Number Twelve, Grimmauld Place to Teddy Lupin. After several months of remodeling and repairs, Teddy and Victoire Lupin move into their new home.

On the twenty-ninth of June, 2024, Albus Potter, Rose Granger-Weasley, and Scorpius Malfoy graduate from Hogwarts. Albus later becomes an apprentice for a Wizarding astronomer, while Rose and Scorpius both decide to spend a year abroad in Italy—Rose, for an apprenticeship with renowned Wizarding artist Paolina Giordano, and Scorpius, for a ten-month international internship through the Ministry of Magic's Department of International Magical Cooperation. They do not tell their families that the other is also moving to Italy.
