Disclaimer: I don't own Soul Eater
Summary: There was one thing Maka Albarn never would have expected: seeing Soul in tears.
Warning: There is no warnings here.
It was just a simple idea but I hope you will enjoy it. I had fun writing this :3
"Hey Soul, how is it going with dinner?" Maka asked when she entered the kitchen in their small apartment. She is getting really hungry and today, it's Soul's turn to cook the dinner. Hopefully, he hadn't burnt the food like last time.
She was expecting a response from her partner but instead, to her surprise, she heard a quiet sniffle. It was almost inaudible so you have to listen very carefully to hear it.
The weird part is the sound actually came from Soul.
His back is turned against Maka, so she couldn't see his face but she knew what was happening. She was very astonished by this. Is…is he crying? she thought, wondering if she was hearing right.
In the long time they have been partners, Soul have never cried before. But why is he crying? Did something bad happen to him without Maka knowing it? Maka's worry grew and she looked at the albino scythe in sympathy.
He might have been hurt. That was a horrible thought though but that was the only idea she could come up with. Was there other reasons? Reasons she didn't knew? Whatever the reason was, she cannot just stand there while Soul needed her.
This is the first time she have ever seen or heard him crying. Whenever Maka cried, Soul was always there to comfort her and will attempt to make her feel better. Now it's time to do the same for him.
The scythe meister walked to her partner. As she was approaching him, she opened her arms and hugged him from behind. The scythe got surprised by the sudden hug. He turned to his meister. Small tears rolled down his cheeks. "M-Maka?" he choked out her name. The meister shushed him. "That's okay. I know you're sad but now I'm here." she told him quietly.
It was an odd sight to see the usually laid-back and cool guy like Soul crying but the tears…it made him look so pure and innocent. He looked like a fragile soul that can easily break by the slightest single touch.
Soul lifted a shaky finger and pointed at something on the kitchen table. Maka looked where Soul was pointing. She saw that he was cutting onions. She felt the big need to face palm herself.
So that was what made him cry? There was nothing wrong with him, it was just the onions.
Maka let go of Soul. Soul chuckled. "Did you really thought that I was crying?" he asked her. Maka blushed at her mistake. "Kinda…" she admittedly shyly. She wasn't a person who likes to admit her mistakes.
"Maka, that's really sweet that you care about me but cool guys doesn't cry."
"Why not? You were crying right now." Maka pointed out, smirking at her partner.
Soul gave her a small glare. "It was because of the onions."
"Whatever you say."
Okay, the joke may have been lame and I know that it was short. But I like how it turns out :)
