A BUCK CHRISTMAS
BY BUCKROCKS
Crash sighed as Eddie tried his experimental Christmas tree idea on Sid. "What's wrong?" his brother asked him. Crash sighed again. "Buck's all alone for Christmas. He must be lonely." Sid looked confused. "That guy? Lonely? Yeesh! He's been alone all these years and he has never been lonely." Crash scowled and retorted, "Well, since we came, he might be more used to having company now. We should get him a present or something." Sid scratched his head thoughtfully. "Hey! Don't move!" Eddie practically yelled at him. Sid groaned. "Are you done yet?" The possum shook his head. "Nope. I have to put the ornaments on." Sid groaned again and muttered, "Ohhhhhh boy. This...could be a while."
Meanwhile:
Buck stared at the tree. Come on ya crazed wiener! Tell this tree that it's not allowed to sit where it's planted! He continued staring as the sensible side of his brain jumped in. Dude, your just lonely and bored. Buck laughed out loud. Lonely? Pshhh! The Buckminster never knows loneliness! The crazed side of his mind screeched, Yeah! Now, where's that pineapple? The sensible side growled, AAAAHH! Here ya go again! Assumin' that you married a pineapple! Overwhelmed and frustrated beyond belief, Buck screamed and ran (in no specific direction, of course). He ran into a large grey foot. Rudy looked down at him in confusion, thinking why'd he run AT me? I thought he never ran at me like this. The dino growled. Buck smirked and muttered, "Yeah, merry Christmas to you too Rudy." He turned around and sadly started to leave. Rudy tipped his head. What's with that guy?
Back in the Ice Age:
Crash searched through the forest. Something Buck will like. He'll want a gift that he never got before. He suddenly perked up. "I know!" he shouted. Smiling, he bolted back to the herd. Buck will be so happy!
Back in Buck's World:
Buck looked up at the ice. I wish Crash and Eddie were here. He shook his head. Quit thinkin' that way! Ya know that they'll never come back. He closed his eye to think.
I know they aren't coming back.
Then why are ya thinkin' of them?
They are all together for Christmas. I'll just be on my own.
Ha. Thought so!
Buck hated that little voice. It was like it wanted to torment him. He whined, and that whine turned into a whimper, and that whimper turned into a yowl. He knew the truth...
He was alone for Christmas.
The next morning:
Buck dragged himself through the jungle. Well, it's Christmas day. Merry Christmas...I guess. He wiped his hand across his face. No. You're not gonna start cryin' again. He looked up to see Rudy snoring away in his cave. Well boy, it's our own little Christmas. He suddenly was knocked over. That's when he saw the possum twins on top of him. "What are ya guys doing here! I thought I closed up the cave!" Crash laughed. "You can't have a merry Christmas with out a gift!" Buck's eye narrowed in confusion. "And what's that?" Manny stepped out of the trees, and behind him was the rest of the herd. "We want you to join the herd." Buck froze.
"Really?"
"Yep."
"Seriously?"
"Yes!"
"YA MEAN IT!"
Manny grinned. "Yes we mean it." Buck smiled the biggest smile ever. This is the best gift ever! He gave the possums a hug. "Thanks guys! I needed that!"
That day, Buck became an official member of the herd.
So...What do you think?
