Owen and Noah versus the Music Videos
Final Video: The greatest music video ever made!
"The best music video ever made?" Asks Owen. "Which one's that?"
"This one." Noah says as he clicks the video in questions. "Get ready, dude."
And now, the greatest music video ever made... Tribute by Tenacious D!
Noah: (Laughing) man, check out Jack Black taking Kyle over to the local food court,
Owen: (Chuckling) you know, by the very white background you can tell that this is just some crummy mall in some nowhere town.
Noah: Yeah! Aw man, you ever seen those lame karaoke boxes?
Owen: All the time, dude! I hardly ever see anyone use them, though. Do people even use them?
Noah: Not to my knowledge. Oh! There goes Jack Black tampering with the box! He gonna get in trouble!
This is the greatest and best song in the world's...
Tribute.
A long time ago me and my brother Kyle here\
We was hitchhiking a long and lonesome road
All of a sudden
There shined a shining demon
In the middle of the road
And he said!
Noah: (Singing along) Play the best song in the world! Or I'll eat your soul!
Owen: (Whispering) Soul...
Noah: (Singing along) Well me and Owen, we looked at each other. And we each said!
Owen and Noah: Okay!
And we played the first thing that came to our heads
Just so happened to be
The best song in the world!
It was the best song in the world!
Owen: You ever wonder what song they're referring to?
Noah: It could be any song. Bohemian Rhapsody, Hey Jude, Always on my Mind...
Owen: Another Brick in the Wall, Blitzkrieg Pop, Papa don't Preach...
Noah: Bllie Jean, Blue Suede Shoes, Hurt...
Owen: Smells like Teen Spirit, Bittersweet Symphony...
Noah: Could be anything!
Owen: Except this song, ironically.
This is not the greatest song in the world, no!
This is just a tribute!
Couldn't remember the greatest song in the world, yeah-no!
This is a tribute!
Owen: But this tribute to the greatest song in the world is, ironically, one of the best songs in the world.
Noah: In fact, it might even BE the best song in the world!
Owen: Yeah, because it acknowledges that there are better, more popular songs in the world, so it pays tribute to the one song believed to be the best.
"Yeah, I feel as though, because it acknowledges it's not the best song in the world," Owen said. "That makes it the best song in the world. Does that make any sense?"
"I think," Noah pondered. "Because the song acknowledges the grandness of other artists and seeks to pay them tribute, a grandness seeps into it specifically from its desire not to emulate, but to congratulate."
"Huh?" Owen asked, confused.
"It's like when you stop trying to be cool," Noah said. "People try to be cool so much and so hard, they end up looking and acting like total losers. It's when they stop trying to be cool and instead start being comfortable with themselves that they start being cool."
"Yeah!" Owen excitedly replied. "It's like that old advice we always hear but no one ever bothers to explain: be yourself!"
"That's right!" Noah said. "And this song, and Tenacious D in general, aren't trying to pretend to be anything other than who they are: goofballs who love what they do. And THAT is what makes them awesome."
"They're not afraid to be themselves," said Owen. "Like how Kyle Gass just lets himself be a fat, balding guy with no fashion sense. Who cares? He's still shredding that guitar!"
"Right!" Noah laughed. "Hey, dude? Thanks."
"For?" Asked Owen.
"These past few days, man," Noah sighed, then smiled. "That whole thing with Amanda. It's been rough, but you were there by my side through it all."
"What are friends for?" Asked Owen. "Hey buddy, know what? I think you'll do great in college."
"Thanks, dude," Noah said, smiling. "Now let's hit the road."
And so Noah turned off the computer, the lights, and closed the door. The duo turned on the car, Owen at the wheel, as the two embarked on their coming road trip.
The End.
