There were many things Masamune had forgotten over the years; painful memories he'd rather not recall. High school, for most part, was nothing more than a huge blur to him. It felt like he just flew passed it – unattached, no impact – that is until, one Oda Ritsu appeared. Love confessions weren't foreign to Masamune, no. He received quite the amount of them in the past… but there was just something about this one that intrigued him. Maybe it was because this blushing, quivering mess of a kouhai was male? Maybe it was the purity of how he laid out his love? Masamune couldn't quite figure it out, even now.

Masamune remembered a girl in his class – couldn't remember her name even if his life depended on him. It wasn't that she was forgettable, no. From what he remembered (with his high school mindset suppressed as much as possible), she was a sweet girl – nice, upbeat, if not a little too cheerful. But all Masamune could make out of her were her twintails… and probably they were in braids. She too, confessed to him around the same time. Masamune sometimes ponders what made him choose Ritsu over her. They both gave him (from what he can see) the same amount of blind admiration. How she would blush and stutter when talking to him is all too similar to how Ritsu would too. Given the chance, Masamune could probably fallen in love with her instead. That was it, though. He never gave her a chance – too enraptured with this boy who came out of nowhere and claimed he held feelings for Masamune. Ritsu did what she couldn't, and that was to capture his interest.

To label her as 'another one of his mindless admirers' was hardly fair, but Masamune wasn't the nicest person in the world back then. He almost wishes he could apologize to her, but he supposed some things are better left in the past. Even if she was just an admirer – only pinning for Masamune because of her own girlish fantasies and having no where as much as infatuation, love, and care as Ritsu did – she probably could learn to do so over time. Left as it was, even if she did suffer a heartbreak, Masamune was sure she'll move on.

As for himself? He had no regrets. Ritsu, even ten years from then, was still the only right choice.
