"She reminds me of you, that one."

Lily laughed lightly "Which one? Hermione? His friend."

"Yes the bushy-haired girl. The one that's always answering questions in class, being a know-it-all." James grinned at her cheekily.

"Hey!" Lily said, mock punching him. "There's nothing wrong with knowing the answers! And I think she's a lovely girl. I'm so glad that Harry's found good friends like Ron and Hermione. Aren't you?"

"Of course!" Replied James "Good, loyal friends like Remus and Sirius. They have fun too."

"Oh?" Lily raised her eyebrow. "And by fun you mean getting into trouble? He got that from you!"

James chuckled at that. "Well of course! We wouldn't want our son to be boring, would we? And I can't take all the blame - you weren't as perfect as you pretended to be." James grinned at her as if challenging her. It's as if they were teenagers, back in school again.

Lily sniffed. "I was practically, perfect in every way."

"Right." James snorted "What about all those times you hexed me in the hallways? Or in seventh year after we started dating when we used to -"

Lily cut him off "That all had to do with YOUR influence." she poked him in the side. "I go a little crazy around you." She sighed and relaxed into his chest.

"I go a lot crazy around you." James murmured in her ear. For a few moments neither of them spoke, both of them caught up in the moment as they watched their only son sit down next to a red headed
girl, both wishing that they could be there with him.

"She reminds me of you too." James said softly as they watched their son put an arm around her.

"Who, Ginny?" Lily asked. James nodded and Lily felt the movement against her side."Why do you say that?"

"She's smart, strong and brave - just like you are." Lily smiled at this and reached up to kiss her husband. "We Potter boys have a weakness for fiery redheads."

Lily laughed but her thoughts quickly sobered and her voice turned sad. "He has a hard road ahead of him, doesn't he?"

"I'm afraid so. He doesn't deserve it, he's such a good boy. Better than the both of us."

"I wouldn't doubt it. James, I'm so proud of him."

"Me too honey" James said wiping her tears away with his thumbs as some rolled down his own cheeks. "I wish we could've been there for him. I wish we could've been there..."
