Yukina was used to getting gifts at work. Girls he flirted with constantly shoved homemade cookies or boxed lunches on him, and he couldn't just reject them. He always carefully tasted the food and tried to feel the effort the girls put into making it for him. A lot of the time it actually tasted quite good, and the compliments he was able to give his returning customers spurred them to ever new heights of spending.

After he started going out with Kisa, he felt a bit apprehensive about receiving gifts from the girls at work. Lovers getting jealous over gifts from potential other love interests was a common theme in shoujo manga, after all. He didn't think Kisa was the jealous type; the editor divulged the breadth of his somewhat lurid past straightforwardly enough. But Yukina wanted to make sure that his boyfriend didn't mind.

Coincidentally, the next time Kisa had a day off, Yukina received a bag of cookies from one of his frequently returning customers. The recipe was featured in the latest edition of Emerald, accompanying a story that Kisa edited, and he had been considering trying the recipe himself. They smelled good, so Yukina thought it was a good chance to bring them over to Kisa and see if he was going to have to stop accepting the gifts at work.

When he knocked on the door to Kisa's apartment, he just got a yell telling him to let himself in. As he opened the door, he saw Kisa lying on the floor on his back. It wasn't even near the end of the monthly cycle, but... the small man had a different sense of humor.

As Yukina let himself in, Kisa popped his head up and looked at him. He was staring at the bag in Yukina's hand. It was orange, and it had a red ribbon with a heart motif tying it shut. But rather than asking about it directly, Kisa simply raised an eyebrow.

"I got some cookies at work today. They were made with the Orange ~ Love recipe."

Kisa's eyes started to sparkle, and then a grin broke over his face. "Give me one." He opened his mouth wide, but he didn't get up off the floor. Yukina squatted down next to him, broke one of the large cookies in half, and placed it carefully in Kisa's mouth. Yukina had to stifle a giggle when his boyfriend started chewing obnoxiously. After he swallowed, he leaned for a quick kiss which Yukina gladly gave.

"So, how was it?"

"Nothing tastes sweeter than the spoils of war." Kisa replied. When Yukina stared at him, he elaborated. "I won you. So I get to eat your cookies." Yukina put a hand up over his mouth as he started laughing. "What? I'm serious! Just because I'm too nice to hang a sign around your neck doesn't mean I can't be smug that those girls will never get you. And besides," he added as he pulled the other half of the cookie out of Yukina's hand and plopped it into his mouth, "this one's a pretty good cook."

Well, Yukina thought, that definitely could have gone over worse.

a/n: I don't really know these characters well at all, but I wanted to write something. So I'm sorry for (insert whatever irritated you here).
