"Luce, Why do you write to your mother?" Natsu whined, Sitting cross legs on the blode mages bed.
"None of your business! And why were you snooping around my things?" She turned a mennicing glare on him.
"It wasn't my fault, Happy found them by accident. And we didn't know what they were so we read some." He gave her his trademark smile. Lucy was becoming more irate with every passing second. "Come on LUUUUUCE! Tell me why?" He flashed her a pair of wide puppy like eyes and a deep pout. Lucy took a deep breath and walked over to the bed, placing herself beside her annoying pink haired friend.
"It's a habit that formed when Mama passed. I was lonely, so I wrote to her, it made me feel like that way I would be closer to her, even though she was gone." Lucy couldn't hold the tears from glistening in her eyes.
"But your not lonely anymore" Lucy looked over to see an unfamilliarly soft expression on her friends face. She begrudged him a weak smile.
"No I'm not" She truly wasn't lonely now that she had Fairytail. It was like having a big family full of crazy siblings, and she loved them all dearly. "But I miss her sometime, so I write to her. It makes me feel like this way I can keep my memories of her sharp. I never want to forget my mother, not one single part of her." Lucy felt a warm hand on her shoulder.
"I know exactly what you mean" He tugged at his scarf, a warmth filling his beautiful olive eyes. Lucy found herself intranced momentarily, daydreaming about falling head over heels. A sweet smile spread across her face. "If your lonely or sad, I'l be there for you. Ok? Your don't need to feel lonely anymore." Lucy couldn't help it, she wrapped her arms around him in a tight hug.
"I said I'm not lonely anymore, Idiot." Natsu laughed and drapped his arms around her shoulders in return. "Now stop snooping through my stuff!" She pulled back smacking him over the head. She laughed deeply as her friend fell off the bed, rubbing his new bump.
"What was that for Luce?" He whined.
"Cause your and idiot" She replied making her way back to her desk. She took the letter she had just sealed and went to place it with the others.
"Hey Luce." She turned around to see Natsu in the middle of her room sitting on a long wooden chest.
"What's that for Natsu?" Lucy gave him a puzzled expression.
"Your usual hiding place was already really full, so Happy and I thought we would get you this." He pointed beneath himself. "It's called a hope chest. I thought you could use it to keep your letters safe." Natsu grinned and hoped off the wooden chest, making his way to the window. "See you later!" He was gone before Lucy could say thank you.
Natsu may be an idiot, but at least he is a sweet idiot.
