Perry looked at the letter in disbelief. He had read it three times but his brain refused to accept what was on the paper.

Heinz the Hound let out a low whine. "Are you sure she won't change her mind?"

"I'm sure," Perry sighed. "She's been having problems with them for years. The plagiarism case was the worst, but she says she's also had it with the entire system."

"So what do we do, Perry the Person?" Heinz tilted his head in curiosity. He was up for a good chase, if that was what it took to get things back on track.

"We need to find the notebook," Perry affirmed with almost as much self-assuredness as he used to set his fedora smartly back on his head. "We follow to Archive of Our Own, and hope the notes help MayaSerena finish writing out this story. I don't know about you, old friend, but I want to see how it all works out for us."

Heinz's tail wagged furiously. "Do you think she'll finally turn us back into ourselves I miss opposable thumbs. And steaks. And strudel with raisins in it."

Perry straightened up and went to the workbench. "Let's find out." Selecting the biggest ray gun he could find, he aimed carefully at the Fourth Wall and blew a hole large enough for both of them to walk through easily.

To be continued at Archive of Our Own - once the notebook is found.
