I've always been a bit of a perfectionist.

Here's me going, "Hey, your shoe's untied."

"You're holding your wand the wrong way."

"That button's undone."

"You're holding your wand the wrong way."

"Oh, you've got a bit of something between your teeth."

"YOU'RE HOLDING IT UPSIDE-DOWN, RON- I mean, you."

And so, even though I know people get pissed at me when I do it, I just HAVE to say it.

Or, sometimes, I just fix it.

Such as... right now, for instance.

"Malfoy," I hiss to the Slytherin sitting in front of me.

He ignores me, naturally.

"Malfoy," I whisper again.

"What is it?" Malfoy turns around, annoyed.

"Your collar is completely messed up," I tell him. "Fix it."

"I don't think I will," he replies.

"Fix it," I repeat.

"Malfoy," I say, narrowing my expression.

"Hmm?"

"Fix it."

"No," and then Malfoy turns back to the front of the room.

I HAVE to fix it, my fingers are just itching to do it.

I'm gripping the edges of my desk.

Don't do it, Hermione, don't-

Ahh, relief.

There, it's all good now.

I relax.

"What are you DOING?" Malfoy demands, spinning around again.

"Fixing your collar," I answer smugly.

He rolls his eyes at me.

Then he purposely adjusts the collar of his shirt so that it's uneven again.

I make this growling type of noise that I never have used before.

Huh.

"Come here, I'll fix it," I say, reaching for Malfoy's neck.

"No, get away from me!"

"No, I've just got to-"

And then, somehow, I've wrestled him to the floor.

I fix Malfoy's collar again, then, just because I can right now, pat him twice on the head.

Oh, his hair is so soft and feathery!

"Miss Granger, Malfoy, what on EARTH are you doing?"

Professor Flitwick approaches us, giving me an odd look.

"My apologies, Miss Granger, but this is grounds for a detention," he says.

Why, oh, WHY?

So I say the only thing that I really can at the moment.

"Professor, you're fly's unzipped."

Malfoy tilts back his head and just laughs.
