Oh, I am so random these days! I've never written for this fandom, but when creativity calls, I answer the phone in a hurry. I don't care if it's cheesy! XDDDDD

Disclaimer: I don't own Star Fox or any of its delightfully addictive characters... Oh... I sad, bro...

Challengers

Falco's feathers were ruffled more than normal. Being "#2" to this inconveniently skilled rookie was growing tiresome and he was determined to win his rights for command.

"Let's get one thing straight, Falco," Fox warned rather dangerously, but smirked all the same to his partner.

"What's that, Fly Boy?" Falco wasn't amused.

"I'm in charge of this mercenary team because I earned it, not because my dad used to be. Star Fox isn't about favoritismā€¦" He was trying to reason with his prized pilot, though this pilot was indeed his senior by only a year. He valued Falco like no other, but their attitudes were constantly butting heads for rank.

"Favoritism?" Falco repeated, scoffing. "I never said anything about favoritism. I know I can beat you in the sky, the training room or anywhere else."

A gleam flashed in Fox's eye and he grinned, placing his elbow on the table in front of him. "Winner gets to decide the first challenge to see who should really be the leader of this team. You game?"

Finally, Falco smiled and clasped his firm wing into Fox's waiting paw, preparing to grip tight and begin their match. "Heh, always gotta be the thorn in my side, don't you, Fox?"

Fox returned the same look, content and pleased at the same time with his wingman's pride. "And you'll always be the wind at my backā€¦"

I've been playing Star Fox 64 for years and I always loved the rivalry Fox and Falco have. I hope you enjoyed my... odd interpretation of them. lol Thanks for your time, Beloved Reader!
