Roxas felt used. Used by everyone.
The Organization used to him to collect hearts, and the Keyblade used him to kill heartless.
Really, he'd rather be normal. Go out for ice cream like a normalperson. Have friends like a normalperson. Really, just be normal.
But he couldn't because he wasn'tsomebody. He was nobody. He wasa Nobody. He was just a shell of someone else. Someone who probably had friends and got to eat ice cream any time he liked, unlike Roxas who could only do that aftermissions.
So Roxas remained used, well aware of the fact he'd probably go out with a whimper while everyone else got hearts because they used him.
He had to accept this, no matter how much he'd rather not.
Maybe that's why he was surprised when the most unlikely person made him a somebody, even if he still didn't have a heart.

It was the end of another tiring mission, so he was most definitely looking forward to his ice cream and time with Axel, his only maybe real friend.
"Hey, you look kind of down. You ok?" The red head asked while they both munched away on their salty sweet snacks.
Roxas jumped. He'd been deep in thought before Axel said anything.
"Oh, um, yeah…just thinking, is all." Roxas answered, not really wanting to go into his feeling.
"About what?"
"Nothing."
"Ha! Right! Tell meeeee."
"No."
"Tell me."
"No, Axel."
"Tell me tell me tell me tell me tell me tell me tell me tell me." Axel said, getting really close to Roxas.
Roxas huffed. "Alright, just stop asking!"
Axel, looking very much like a victorious lion (what, with that red mane of his and all) sat down and continued the munching of his ice cream.
So Roxas told him. Told him everything and he was surprised when Axel didn't interrupt and just listened silently. When he was done, they both just sat there for several long silent seconds.
Until…
"You're right, you know." Axel said, finishing off his ice cream. "The Organization is using you. They just want hearts, and you're their supplier."
Roxas could only nod numbly. He'd known, but to hear it confirmed it…hurt. It hurt a lot for someone who wasn't supposed to have a heart.
"And you? Are you using me?" He asked, not wanting for all the worlds for it to be true.
Axel looked at him strangely. "Of course not. You're my friend Roxxy. I'll never use you like that."
"…Prove it."
"What?"
"I said prove it. Prove you're my friend. Prove you're not using me."
Axel smiles and...pressed his lips ever so gently to Roxas'. For several seconds the kiss lasted. And when Axel pulled away, Roxas was still in shock. But not for long.
"How is thatsupposed to prove you're my friend?" He asked.
"Dunno. Just really wanted been wanting to do that for awhile." Axel replied, idly examining his stick to see if he'd won another free ice cream. He hadn't.
Roxas opened his mouth to say something, then shut it. Then opened it. Then shut it. Then opened it.
"….ok."
Axel smiled slightly.
Roxas looked down at his feet. "….Does this mean something?"
Axel shrugged. "It can if you want it to."
Roxas looked at him. "I want it to."
"Then it does. You're my Somebody now. Got it memorized?
Roxas facepalmed. "Yep."
"Good."
And with that, Axel leaned in for another kiss.
And as the sun set, lighting the sky with brilliant hues of reds and oranges, Roxas knew he was being used, but now it didn't hurt so much.
He was somebody's Somebody, and that was all he needed.
