A/N: This is short and a light attempt at humor. lol Humor isn't my creative strength, but I do try to offer some once in a while. Enjoy!
Disclaimer: Drat, I still haven't heard from those copyrights people yet...! Oh! ...Umm, I mean... I don't own this series! ...But I'd like to!
She blinked, abashed by this out of the blue surprise. Why was he doing this?
"Hiei?" Keiko looked at him, incredulous and still embarrassed. Here she was, dressed to perfection and he was just standing there.
"Hn, I don't care much for your human traditions, but Kurama said I had to play some role in this whole thing," Hiei said, answering her unasked question with a great sense of obligation.
Keiko's free hand distractingly touched her white skirt to flatten it out, or brush the invisible dust she suddenly suspected was there. This whole thing had shocked her and she just didn't know how to react. Had Yusuke secretly set this up?
"Well?" Hiei snapped her out of her daze.
"Well what," Keiko repeated, voice startled, wanting another distraction.
"Wells are for water. Doors are for going through. I'm not going to hold it open forever for you," Hiei spat, a disgruntled look on his face as Keiko finally regained her composure.
"Oh…" Keiko, now back in control and recovered from her brief moment of alarm, composed herself and replied. "Thanks… didn't think you'd actually play a part in this whole wedding thing."
Hiei scoffed and waited for her to walk through, being patient (though with much strain) in allowing her long dress to also make it safely across the threshold. "Hn, it's about time you and the Detective tied this invisible knot."
Keiko managed a giggle and shifted her skirt aside to allow him past her, leading the way to the doors where she was supposed to make her grand entrance. Hiei could be interestingly charming when he wanted, and though this barely qualified as one of those moments, she still filed it away.
As she approached the door before he opened it, Keiko leaned down to him and whispered, "Remind me later to thank Kurama for getting you involved in my wedding. You make a cute usher."
Hiei swore he would never take part in human rituals again, even if cake was offered.
A/N: It's the effort that matters, right? XD Leave a review if you liked! Thank you for your time!
