(Phineas v. Ferb)

Isabella sighed to herself as the gang went into homeroom together to get their schedules for the year. Of course Baljeet would be the one to probably get the cosmos out of alignment and switch up Phineas and Ferb. If it was Buford it would be easier, because at least owns up to it. Baljeet keeps denying that it is his fault. And in hindsight, it might not be his fault, but when you look at the facts, what else could it be? It isn't like a mad scientist can just harness the powers of the cosmos. Isabella thought to herself as she took her seat by the window.

Phineas and Ferb grabbed their usual seats near the front of the room, Baljeet and Buford sat near the middle. Isabella was soon surrounded by the Fireside Girls as they all caught up on how their last days of summer went by.

"Right, so what we need is a personality switching machine and we can just shoot ourselves with it and it'll reverse the effects right?" Ferb asked of Phineas. Phineas nodded. For some reason, Phineas couldn't think of any way to build the machine. Looking up at the clock, they still had twenty minutes before homeroom officially began. Phineas went to grab some spare blueprint pages he kept on hand during the school year only to find that he didn't pack them this morning.

Phineas frowned thoughtfully until Ferb pulled out some of the blueprint pages. It wasn't just Phineas who noticed this. A lot of people around homeroom who were having their own conversations glanced over to see Ferb doing the designing and Phineas remaining silent.

"Okay, so if we put the coils here, and wiring down below..." Ferb worked fast across the entire blueprint. "We can get this set up fairly quickly I think. What do you think Phineas?" Ferb turned to look at his step brother. Phineas studied the blueprints thoughtfully for a minute before nodding his head in confirmation. "Great, in that case, we can get started this afternoon when we get home from school!"

A few girls walked past Phineas as they moved towards their seats. "Hey Phineas!" several of them waved at him as they passed. Knowing each of them by name, Phineas of course, only waved back and smiled at them, earning himself a glare from Isabella.

Homeroom came and went with the gang getting their schedules and finding out that they pretty much have all their classes together except for Baljeet who is taking a few doctorate level courses on the side.

Over the course of the day, Phineas found himself, not unable to talk, but found it difficult to muster up the ability to say more than just a line or two at a time. He wondered what it must be like for Ferb all day. He knew that Ferb had the ability to talk, he just chose not to, Phineas felt like something was forcibly repressing his urge to be the speaker and center of the group.

By the time that the gang all got off at Phineas' house to help them build a machine that would re-switch the personalities, Phineas felt like he was being smothered. Looking over at his brother, Phineas saw he was on the phone with the supply company and not him. Phineas' heart sank slightly at that as he is usually the one to call them.

"Yes, yes I am," Ferb ended with before hanging up. "The supplies will be on their way soon. Once they arrive, we can try and fix up our personality problems."

"So Ferb, tell me," Baljeet began, getting some icy stares from Isabella. "What does it feel like having your roles reversed?"

"It is really weird," Ferb began to explain. "It is almost like... something is compelling me to talk and think of new ideas. It doesn't feel natural... What about you Phineas? How does it feel like? You need to force yourself to talk more?" Phineas nodded his head. "Well, let's just hope this works, because I'm tired of talking already."
