The only thing Rin was gifted at, was cooking

And perhaps the ability to open doors you thought you sealed, locked, shut long ago.

Father had once mentioned, food was the way to a man's heart. You thought that wasn't true. There was something more to loving Rin than just the food. It was back then, and even until now. Cooking was just a bonus to what naive, oblivious and innocent Rin possessed. It wasn't because he was your brother; he had nothing to do with that.

He could evoke so many emotions in the stoic you. You, who didn't shed a tear when Father died, but cried when Rin didn't come back home after a fight.

The next day, he came back and embraced you to sleep. You noticed bags under his eyes. "Ah, he too didn't get a wink of sleep." was your first thought.

The minute you woke up and went down to the canteen, your eyes went huge. At the table where you and your brother usually sat was laden with food. Rin had really outdone himself this time. Steak, pasta, sushi, curry, every food imaginable was on the table. Rin was still at the kitchen, sweat plastered to his forehead, no doubt whipping up something delicious. This was his way of apologizing to you, you realised. It was no secret that you were a glutton, and that he hoped you appease you through his cooking.

You smiled gently to yourself and thought,

"Baka Nii-san, it is your heart that is able to make me happy unlike no other..."
