Chapter One

Harry let out a yell of frustration as he kicked the unstable chest of draws trying not to scream.

His anger at the whole situation seemed to spill out of him, his anger at the ministry for almost expelling him just because he tried to save his cousin. His frustration at Ron and Hermione for being useless at telling him what was happening.

But what was troubling him most was his godfather, for the first time in Sirius' life he was agreeing with the authority, which stung Harry. He wanted Sirius to come and save him from this trouble so they could face the ministry together, either that or they could be outlaws together. Something a father would do…

Only Sirius was keeping information from Harry. Just like everyone else.

Harry sat down on his lumpy bed feeling the anger slowly seem away from him leaving a mixture of hurt and resignation behind. Physically he was drained from the dementor attack but he was mentally exhausted too. All Harry felt like doing was going to sleep; maybe this would all be a dream.

Staring up at the ceiling Harry felt his scar prickle, almost as if it was humming. Realizing that sleep was not a luxury that was granted to him, Harry reached into his draw and pulled out his parent's old scrapbook that Hagrid had given him years ago.

He flicked through the pages that he had mesmerized, pictures of his parents smiling up at him made him feel less alone. Sometimes there were pictures of a baby Harry with his parents and sometimes they were with a younger Sirius and Remus. There was one picture towards that back that he never really noticed that much before. His parents were standing with Sirius and Remus in the Gryffindor common room dressed in formalwear.

They were older than he was in this picture, perhaps in their sixth or seventh year. But there were two other girls in the picture; one stood next to Remus and the other was under the arm of a young Sirius grinning cheekily. The girl was Sirius had dark brown wavy hair with dark brown eyes; she had high cheekbones and a wide smile making her look like the models found in muggle magazines. The other girl was blonde, her hair was also fairly long but hers was curlier. She had wide doe brown eyes and a soft complexion making her look the opposite of the other girl but equally as pretty.

Harry watched the girls had had previously overlooked with interest, were these his mother's friends? Had they been in relationships with Sirius and Remus? But the question that played on his mind was; where were they now?

Tearing his mind away from the mystery friends he looked down at the last picture in the book. His parents grinned brightly up at the camera with a baby Harry gurgling between them. The three looked so blissfully unaware of their fates ahead. In that single moment Harry wished with everything he had that he was with his parents. Away from the mess that surrounded him. Somehow his parents survived and would whisk him away to be happy.

A creak from downstairs brought him out of his daydream. Harry sat upright, on full alert. He subconsciously he drew his wand closer to him as he got off up the bed careful not to make a sound. His Aunt and Uncle had gone to the hospital with Dudley; it was unlikely they would be back so soon.

Harry crept towards his door to investigate the noise when something glittering caught his eye. Sitting between the mess and clutter of his open trunk was a small pocket mirror that Harry had never seen before. It had small crystal jewels lining the outside of the mirror that caught the light.

Suddenly a face flashed across the screen, a girl with long midnight black hair, she was saying something Harry couldn't hear. He lent closer to it trying to get a better look at her and hear what she was saying. A crashed from downstairs made him jump making his nose touch the end of the mirror. Before he could even yell out, Harry felt himself being sucked into the small object, the feeling similar to a port-key. He felt himself falling until everything went black.

...

Something tickled the tip on his nose, something soft. Harry rubbed it trying to make it go away, it was distracting him from a peaceful dream. He was back at Hogwarts in the smooth sheets of his four-poster bed but this thing on his nose was slowly waking him.

"Harry"

"Harry wake up you git!"

A girl's voice yelled loudly in his ear, it didn't sound much like Aunt Petunia; maybe it was one of her irritating friends. Harry groaned rolling over; he could almost feel the softness of the four-poster.

"HARRY!" The girl's voice screamed in his ear. Harry scowled slowly opening his eyes; the room was bright, a lot brighter than his shabby room on private drive. This room had white and red walls. Harry jumped up scrabbling around for his wand that was on the small dresser next to his huge bed. He stood up trying not to fall on the silky sheets; a girl smaller than he was looked up trying not to laugh. The girl from the mirror.

"You're such an idiot." She smirked, and then turned out of the room to leave, as if it was a normal thing to do.

Harry yelled out after her, "Who are you? What have you done to me?"

The girl turned back frowning, "Calm down Harry, the Blacks are coming soon, just thought I would wake you before they came. You should be glad I didn't use water." She replied running her hand through her long black hair then walked from the large room muttering loudly.

Harry was left standing stupidly with his mouth slacked open and his wand clenched at an odd angle. Harry cautiously stepped off the red and gold sheets looking around for any clues. It looked like a boys bedroom, a Gryffindor by the looks of it. Harry tried to remember what happened last night but the last thing he remembered was sitting down on his lumpy bed at the Dursley's.

The room was fairly messy, clothes and books scattered around the floor, a desk was to the right of the room and Harry walked over to it eyeing the quills and parchment. Nothing looked strangely out of place; it just looked like a normal bedroom. By the red sofas and chairs pictures were hanging on the wall, Harry was surprised he didn't notice them before. He walked over to see who was in them but then faltered. No, it couldn't be. Could it?

Six people smiled and waved down at him, Harry could see a boy who looked exactly like him standing with the five other people. Only Harry couldn't remember ever meeting them. It was impossible. The two adults who stood behind the four teenagers had died almost fourteen years ago. James and Lily were dead. Only in this picture they weren't, they looked older now but somehow still the same. His mother had auburn red hair and the same green eyes that Harry himself had.

His father stood next to him mother kissing her cheek with a cheeky grin, it was clear why everyone said he looked like James. Harry was the younger version of him. Next he began to study the three other teenagers; the girl who had just been in his room was in the picture. She stood in the middle smiling brightly at the camera; her striking purple eyes could not be missed.

A boy stood next to her, he looked a year or two younger than Harry but he shared the same sloping nose. Although he had brown hair he seemed to have the same eyes as James, making Harry wonder if they were somehow related. But it was the fourth girl that caught his attention; she was on the picture Harry's back, piggyback style as she pulled a funny face. She had Lily and Harry's eyes, the same sparkling green ones. Not to mention the girl had the same hair as Lily, only maybe a few shades redder.

Harry stepped away from the wizarding photograph feeling sick. It was a cruel joke.

A really disgusting prank. No doubt Malfoy was behind this. Only he would think of something so hurtful, make Harry believe he could have a family. The smaller pictures waved almost jeering at Harry, he saw the Weasley's, Sirius, Remus, Neville and so many others he didn't know.

Harry bolted from the room unable to stand looking at the picture anymore. A hallway filled with other doors stopped him immediately. Which way was out of here? Feeling unbalanced and dizzy he walked down slowly and nervously wondering if a death eater would appear any moment.

"Harry?" A voice made him turned around; he only caught a glimpse of red hair before he fell into nothingness.

"Should we take him to St Mungo's?" A woman's voice asked worriedly.

"He will be fine, Amber will be here soon. She can take a look at him. He probably just hasn't eaten enough." A mans voice said soothingly but Harry could hear an edge of worry to it.

"He was acting weird this morning when I woke him." Harry recognized this voice from the girl in his bedroom. The one with black hair.

"How did you wake him?" The woman's voice asked critically.

"I just yelled at him!" The girl said defensively.

"Violet, go and get Jamie and Kally. We need to check they didn't do anything." The woman's voice sighed sadly. Harry heard the girls' footsteps leave the room but he kept his eyes shut. Firstly he had an advantage against these people if they thought he was asleep but secondly he was just genuinely curious who they were.

"Oh James, I am worried about him." The woman's voice said. Harry's heart jumped at the mans name. It couldn't possible be James Potter, could it?

Harry opened his eyes a fraction of an inch, he needed to know. Unable to stop himself he stared at the man through his lashes then quickly shut them again. Sure enough it was the man from the photograph, the man who looked so much like his death father.

But the two were interrupted by two sets of footsteps running though the door. "Is he alright?" A boy's voice asked who he guessed was Jamie. "He fainted, acting very odd. You didn't do anything to him, right? We just want to know, you're not in trouble," The man who looked like James said calmly.

"No," Jamie replied, there was something trustworthy in his voice.

"What about Kally, where is she?" The woman's voice asked sharply.

"That's the thing mum; she left a note in her room saying she was at the Weasley's. I just found it." Violet said in a braced voice.

"Again" The woman who looked like Lily cried out. It was at this point Harry began to wonder if it were a dream, it would make sense. It seemed far to complex to just be Malfoy's work.

"Aunt Ambers here, I will let her in." Jamie said quickly, Harry got the impression he was trying to make a swift exit.

"I will go and get Kally back from the Weasley's." The man said copying his son's technique. Harry took a deep breath then opened his eyes fully; they would soon realize he was not unconscious anyway.

Harry quickly noticed he was no longer in the hallway or even the bedroom. He was now in a cream living room, lying on a comfortable fabric sofa. The woman who looked like Lily sat on the other end looking worried and the girl named Violet sat curled up in an armchair with a book. For a second Harry seemed to choke on his own breath, she looked so real. So heartbreakingly real it made Harry wonder; if his other life was a dream, because right now, this felt like the only real place.

"How are you feeling Harry? What happened?" Lily asked getting up and passing him a glass of water that was on the table.

"I am fine. Thanks." Harry replied warily as he sipped the water tentatively hoping it wasn't a potion. Thankfully the three were distracted as the boy from the photo called Jamie and a blonde woman came through. Harry used this time to mutter a spell that Hermione had made at the end of last year. The identity spell.

Lily Marie Potter nee Evans

Mother of Harry, Violet, Jamie and Kally Potter

Spouse of James Harold Potter

Harry frowned to himself slipping the wand back into his pocket as the two women greeted warmly. It was impossible. Lily Evans died when Harry was only an infant. But something weighed down in his chest.

"So Harry, what trouble have you been in this time?" The blonde woman smiled warmly her brown eyes twinkling. "No trouble." Harry smiled back feeling relaxed in the woman's presence. Somehow she looked familiar.

She laughed raising her eyebrows but said nothing more. She pulled out her wand and started to murmur under her breath her eyes closed with concentration. Harry's heart froze, she was bound to know something was different, he would get found out any second.

"Well everything seems normal. We could bring him to do some more tests if you want but I think the best thing to do is rest and have a lot to drink. He probably just didn't wake up fully." The woman smiled. Harry felt himself relax. They actually believe he was the Harry they knew.

"Thanks Amber." Lily smiled looking more relaxed.

"No problem Lils, just give me a shout if anything happens. But I better go, Amelia and Danny have probably already torn half the house down." Amber sighed getting up.

"I know what you mean. Did you know Kally snuck out to the Weasley's again last night?" Lily grimaced.

"That girl is just like James. Anyway see you all tomorrow." Amber laughed. "Bye Aunt Amber." Violet called from behind her book.

As Amber disapparated James and the girl who could only be Kally came through the door. Kally smiled sweetly when she saw Lily however Lily's expression much resembled Mrs Weasley's expression years ago after she found out her sons stole a car.

"Kally Lauren Potter, what an earth were you thinking?!" Lily yelled as her daughter winced. Harry couldn't help but smirk; they seemed like such a conventional family.

"What do you mean mum?" She replied smiling.

"Going off to someone else's house without telling us? This isn't acceptable young lady!" Lily yelled ignoring her. Jamie joined Violet on her chair and the two watched with interest as their sister got told off.

Kally seemed to drop her innocent act and began to yell back at her mother, "How come it's only me who gets punished? The other three sneak out all the time!"

"Because they didn't sneak out to hang out with boys; in the middle of the night! They were at home!" Lily cried out.

"Violet goes with Harry, Max and Danny ALL the time! She never gets this from you!" Kally replied trying to shift the blame onto someone else.

"Don't bring me into this!" Violet glared from the chair as Jamie stifled a chuckle. Harry noticed how James seemed to take an awkward back seat when someone broke the rules. It must be his Marauder side.

"Well at least Danny is the same year as her! Max is only a year older! And Harry is her brother! She is not a third year girl hanging out with sixth year twins!" Lily screamed angry her face reddening. James put a comforting hand on his wife's shoulder.

"Your mothers right Kally. If you get caught you get punished." James said sternly. Violet and Jamie winced as Lily turned to him her eyes ablaze.

"She shouldn't be going out anyway! It's not about being caught!" James cringed and nodded. "You're right love. Kally you shouldn't go out without our permission."

"It's not like this is the first time either! You've done this at least ten times already!" Lily ranted. Kally rolled her head back sighing, Harry got the impression she knew this was a loosing fight. "Sorry mum. It won't happen again." She said in a monotone voice. Lily stared at her for a moment then took her place at the end of Harry's sofa. When she spoke her voice was a lot calmer.

"You're right. It won't happen again. You need to learn actions have consequences so you are not allowed to go to the quidditch match." Violet and Jamie looked at each other with surprise, even James looked shocked.

"No way! Mum please! I have wanted to go for ages, please! I will do anything else! I am really sorry!" Kally pleaded looking painfully worried.

"No discussion Kally. You should have thought of that before you snuck out. Now Harry, how's your head?" Lily said changing the subject.

"This is so unfair!" Kally yelled before storming from the room.

Lily sighed wearily as James looked guilty after his daughter, then he turned to Harry. "You're up! How are you feeling son?"

"Better." Harry smiled nervously.

"That's great. Sorry you had to wake up to that, you know Kally." He said weakly. Only Harry didn't know Kally, he didn't know any of them. Because this was only a dream.

"It's fine." Harry smiled.

"Come on kids; let's get breakfast before the Blacks arrive." Harry felt his chest tighten. Blacks. Plural. There was not just Sirius Black here. Harry began to wonder if Sirius had children, were they friends here? Maybe there were pictures of them in the bedroom.

The four got up talking between them and headed to the archway to the left of the living room. Harry got up quickly to follow them; the last thing he needed was too get lost. They went down a passageway, turned two corners then Harry found himself in a spacious kitchen area, with large windows drawing in bright sunlight.

Harry smiled when he saw it was his father who made breakfast, he didn't know why but somehow it made sense. Lily and the two children sat at the breakfast island chatting merrily as James half joined in the conversation. Harry sat on the stool next to his mum and listened to Violet gossip about what everyone was doing in the summer. It was an odd feeling. A sense of warmness he couldn't explain. Almost like he felt fully satisfied for the first time in his life.

"Here we go." James balanced under a stack of plates. Harry was surprised to see his favourite meal in front of him, scrambled egg with toast. He hadn't even asked for it. James just knew. Violet had a stack of small pancakes with syrup drizzled over them whilst Jamie had sausage sandwiches. It was the first time anyone had knew what he wanted without asking.

"What about Kally?" Harry asked curiously as James joined them at the table.

"You know the rules, if you're not here then you make it yourself." James shrugged tucking into his own meal happily.

"Is that food I smell" A voice boomed through the kitchen making Harry jump. Lily smirked sipping her coffee as if this was a normal thing.

A man came bounding into the kitchen with a large grin on his face. He had shaggy black hair and strange gray eyes. It took Harry a minute to work out who he was; the Sirius Black he knew looked completely different. To start with Harry's godfather was thinner and his face gaunter. But the biggest change was the life he brought with him, this man seemed to radiate with energy whilst the man Harry knew was always so depressed.

"Got room for a few more?" Sirius asked cheekily.

"Only if you make it yourself." James mumbled through a mouth full of food.

Next to enter the room was a boy around Harry's age and a girl who must have been a year or two younger. The boy grinned at Harry showing his white teeth, the gesture made it clear to Harry that the boy thought him a close friend. He had dark chestnut brown hair that was in the same shaggy style as Sirius's, he shared the same eyes as his father making his appearance just as mysterious as Sirius's.

The girl had curly light brown hair that was just past her shoulders and dark brown eyes; she smiled sweetly making her dimples more pronounced.

"Dad, are you really hounding them for food? We ate about ten minutes ago." The girl sighed rolling her eyes.

"Shut it Tessa, us Black men always have room for more food, besides. Purple has pancakes." The boy said sitting next to Violet with an award-winning smile.

"In your dreams Max." Violet sung in a singsong voice. Hitting his hand away when he tried to steal one.

Two more girls followed making Harry wonder how big the family was. The first was an older woman who was clearly the three teenager's mother. She had the same dark chestnut hair as the boy and the older girl who just walked in. The girl about the boy's age also had the same gray eyes as him.

"Poppy and Addi, come in! Sirius and Max were just trying to steal all our food." Lily laughed as the two joined the table.

"Max, leave Vi alone." Addison sighed sitting in the chair next to Harry.

"She loves me, don't you Vi?" Max asked grinning cheekily at her as he swung an arm around her shoulders. "Like Voldemort loves Harry." She replied as Addison, Jamie and Tess laughed. Lily tried to look disapproving.

"That not funny Vi." Lily frowned trying to stop herself from smiling.

James came up behind her looking stern. "Your mothers right, it wasn't funny…It was hilarious!" He smirked as Lily nudged his side rolling his eyes.

"So where's Kally?" Tessa asked noticing her friend was not with her family.

Lily frowned as Poppy caught her eye. "What did she do this time?" Poppy asked smiling at the thought of her troublesome goddaughter; she was almost as bad as her own Max.

"She snuck out again to the Weasley twins last night; I told her she couldn't go to the match next weekend." Lily grimaced as Max winced, "Bet she loved that."

"Kally is in her room if you want to see her." Lily smiled at Tessa who nodded grinning then raced up the stairs to find her best friend.

"So Mrs. P, which one of the lucky Weasley's is marrying our Kal?" Sirius asked cheekily, Lily started to choke on her drink as Sirius spoke, James turned to his best friend with a look of dead seriousness of his face.

"That's not funny Padfoot." James almost growled as Max and Violet laughed at the two fathers. Harry felt himself relax around the two families; there was something about them. Like they were one big family all entangled together but somehow Harry felt a part of it. Like they really wanted him there.
