"Freddie, don't take this the wrong way but well..." Jake trailed off nervously, running his hand through his hair before looking at the other boy. "Dude, we all just have to know, are you gay?" He asked calmly.
Freddie choked on his water, dropping the bottle and holding his neck. The water splashed his jeans before pooling around his feet. Water flew all over Jake, the majority going on his t-shirt. Jake looked at his wet t-shirt and shrugged before looking at Freddie again.
"WHAT?" Freddie exclaimed, no longer caring about the girls downstairs or if they heard. Freddie rubbed his cheek before looking down at his shoes. He looked back up at Jake and repeated himself, although more calmly.
"Are you gay?" Jake punctuated each word carefully so Freddie could clearly hear what was being asked. Both boys ran their hands through their hair, although Freddie combed it back down afterwards.
"No f-ing way." Freddie whispered to himself, wondering just how they got onto this conversation and why. "Why do you think I'm gay? And did you say we earlier? Who else thinks I'm gay? I'm not gay."
"Okay, I believe you dude. Calm down. If you're not into guys, you won't mind me taking my shirt off right?" Freddie shook his head.
"If you really want to, go ahead." Jake nodded before peeled it off, then used it as a towel to dry himself. Freddie eyed him before rolling his eyes. "Hey Jake, how did you get them abs?"
"Working out, you know weights, jogging, stuff like that. You didn't think girls fancy me just for my face did you?" Freddie shrugged and stepped forward, away from the pool of water that was at his feet.
"Yeah I guess not. Do you think you could help me? My mum would freak if I went to a gym, or anywhere besides school without her." Freddie muttered to himself. "Do you think you could tell my mum we're studying or something? She's not exactly... normal," Freddie settled for, having failed at finding a better word.
"Sure man, as long as I know your not gay. Will I have to meet your mum to tell her, or will she believe you?"
"Dude, I am not gay, and you may have to tell her or let her see you or something." Both boys nodded.
"Jake, why do you and whoever else think I'm gay? How is hanging around 2 hot girls, don't ever tell Sam I said that, bad. I get to see them in bikinis, go over to there house's any time I want to. I'm allowed in their bedroom whenever. I thought everyone knew I was in love with Carly. Are you saying that's a bad thing?"
"No... You just got to be more manly though, you could have girlfriends if you were. And I just figured you claimed you were in love with Carly because everyone thought you were gay. I mean, in our defence, you've not really had a girlfriend or kissed anyone."
"Ok, I see how you could get that. So you're going to help me get more girls, yes?"
"Sure. But you'll be cool if Carly and I..." Freddie shook his head.
"Not cool, at all. I'd rather Sam gave me 15 wedgies than see you two together."
"Speaking of the girls, would they freak if they saw me topless?"
"Most likely. They're kinda in love with you, well Carly anyway. I'm never sure about Sam."
"You know, I always thought you'd get with Sam before you ever got with Carly."
Freddie got stopped from answering as the door banged open. Sam waltzed in and stood between the boys. Carly stopped at the doorway, staring open mouthed at Jake.
"What's going on here boys?" Sam looked at each boy before turning her body in Freddie's direction and raising an eyebrow. Freddie just shrugged her off.
"Nothing really. Boy stuff." Jake said before walking over to Carly and bringing her in the room.
