I rewatched Hallows part 1 and realized what a spectacular job Emma Watson did with the Bellatrix/Hermione torture scene. Unlike Harry, with his pathetic man-yelp, she actually sounded like she was being tortured.
Realism, people.
The pain makes the world go cold.
Air rushes in her ears, filling her head with static as someone in the background screams and screams- Hermione knows she should be strong and keep quiet, tell them nothing, but the demon on top of her promises that she'd stop if she'd just tell her how they got the sword. She does but she keeps burning her. Her head spins and she's crying now, deep wrenching sobs that wrack her entire body as it convulses against Bellatrix's weight.
It's all a blur of black robe and pale face and icy fire on her arm and Bellatrix is asking her something but Hermione can't answer because it hurts.
Her back arches and something creaks and she knows her body will snap in two if the pain and Bellatrix don't stop right now. Her feet are twitching like she's hanging from a noose and she can't help herself really because it won't stop hurting.
Mudblood.
Hermione wishes her blood was mud- she imagines it would hurt less to have it trickling down her arm from where Bellatrix was carving it lovingly into her skin. So much blood…
There are flashes of light and magic and strong arms that surround her on all sides- warm, now- and she hazily does what she's asked because she hears another voice screaming that she knows isn't hers that sounds a lot like Bellatrix.
She hears soft murmurs in her ears and her body twists through space and she claws at that body of comfort, trying to pull it apart and wrap it around herself like a tattered blanket.
She fails though, and compromises with having Ron hold her until she stops shaking.
