I woke up to the sound of my name whispered into my ear. I wasn't sure that was possible when I was surrounded by dirt, but I heard it all the same. I crawled my way from the earth, landing on the floor in a crouch and shaking the dirt from myself like a dog. It just felt natural but once my eyes were open it was like I came back to myself. Like everything else had been a dream.
"Aw fuck, there's dirt in my mouth. Gross." Ed was beside me, spitting onto the floor. I scowled and stood up to get away from him.
"You should learn to breathe with your mouth closed."
He shot me a narrowed look and made a show of mocking laugher as he pushed on his glasses. "Ha ha. You're a regular comedian. Did you learn that at stripper school?"
I flipped him off with a smile sucking it into my mouth and winking. I pulled it out with a pop and watched him blush like the schoolboy he was.
"Learned that. How was it?"
"I'm sure Jerry's gunna love it."
Laughing softly I jumped toward him, intent on smacking his chest, but the baby vampire jumped practically across the room and up onto the wall, sticking in the corner like a spider.
"Gross. Keep your stripper hands off me. I don't know where they've been!"
I laughed again and jumped toward him, trying out my own abilities when I heard the tv kick on upstairs. It caught my attention as if Jerry had called to me again and I landed on the ground, falling into a brisk walk toward the stairs. Ed followed after, bursting passed me and shoving me teasingly with his shoulder. I'd forgotten how strangely charming the kid could be. When Doris used to babysit Charlie, Ed had come over many times. The four of us watched movies and ran around the yard. It was strange to think I'd never do that sort of thing again. At least not the part that involved sunlight. I would never see the sun again, only stars from here until forever. For just a moment my heart ached at the thought, but I pushed it away as I entered the living room and found Jerry in the single armchair, boots propped up on the table.
My eyes wandered up his long legs in the dark denim, then to the black, button up shirt he wore, open at the top with the sleeves pushed up around his elbows. He had such nice arms and the dark material framed his wonderful forearms nicely. I remembered how good they felt wrapped around me and bit my bottom lip at the memory of last night. When my eyes finally made it up to his mouth he was smirking and I realized he'd been watching me check him out. I blushed a bit, but didn't look away when he met my blue eyes with his dark brown ones.
"How did you sleep Natalie?"
I shrugged one shoulder, moving up beside him to brace my hand against the top of his chair. "Like a baby buried in the ground. So...weirdly well?"
"I say we should get face masks." Ed chimed in from behind me. "Vampire or not, eating dirt sucks dick."
Jerry chuckled softly at that and shook his head. "I think you'll figure it out. Start by keeping your mouth closed."
"That's what I told him," I laughed.
Ed scoffed and leaned against the wall. "Just keeps getting funnier. What are you even watching?" He motioned to the tv. "Is that Desperate Housewives? Dude, how can you live with yourself right now? Aren't you a four hundred year old killing machine?"
Jerry laughed nodding toward the overly tan woman screaming at one of her friends. "They're all such terrible people. I think it's funny."
"I'm seriously questioning your evil vampire cred right now."
I snickered softly giving Jerry a pitying look. "He's got a point. This is the unscariest thing I've ever seen."
Jerry laughed again, his hand snatching out to wrap around my lower back and pull me across his lap. I giggled on the way down resting my hands on his shoulders and searching his beautiful face.
"Are you making fun of me now too Natalie? That's not very nice to do to your master." His hand went up to tuck my hair behind my ear so I leaned into his palm. This close I could smell the blood on his breath and it sent a pleasant shiver up my spine. He must have already gone out and found someone while we slept. The thought made me hungry.
"You're right," I grinned. "I'm a brat. I probably deserve a spanking." His lips curled into a wicked smirk, but before he could reply Ed made a gagging sound from the side of the small living room.
"Seriously? Could you both try to refrain from fucking each other right in front of me? I'm pretty sure that counts as child abuse."
I rolled my eyes but Jerry chuckled under his breath. "You're right Edward. I have a job for the both of you anyway. Thanks to you, my neighbor has gotten nosy. We are going to stop him from getting anyone else involved in my business."
"Charlie?" Ed hissed softly. "I'd say I owe the little fucker a few words."
"More than words," Jerry said flatly. "You're going to kill him."
I went still in his lap, but he was watching Ed, waiting for his response. The teenager sighed, looking at the ground a moment and chewing on his lower lip.
"Why do you want me to kill him? Wouldn't it be way easier for you to do it?"
Jerry shook his head. "He's holed himself up at Peter Vincent's penthouse. I need you to get us inside. Besides, I want yours to be the last face he sees, the face of his oldest friend, before you tear him apart."
"That's dark bro." Ed snickered. "I'm weirdly into it. I guess your vampire cred isn't as lacking as I thought."
"So glad you approve," Jerry deadpanned. When his eyes moved to me I heard myself take a quick breath. He heard it of course and his brows moved down just a bit in question.
"Problem Natalie?" I knew what he was really asking. I'd promised I would kill for him last night and I couldn't balk at the command simply because I knew the kid. Hell, Evil Ed was perfectly fine with it and quickly earning his childhood nickname. I met Jerry's dark eyes a moment, noting the carefully blank expression he wore. I couldn't tell what he was thinking, but somehow I knew refusing him was not an option. If he commanded it, I had to obey. Just because we'd slept together didn't mean I got to ignore his wishes. I belonged to him just as surely as Ed did, as all the others downstairs.
"No problem," I assured him softly, breaking eye contact to look down. He reached under my chin to tilt it back up, searching my face with that same hardened expression.
"Good," he said after a moment and his thumb ran along my lower lip as his smile returned. "You will help him deal with the magician. I don't need a man with that sort of expertise finding his way to us here. Not after I was generous enough to allow him to live this long."
"What do you mean?" I frowned. Jerry's smile grew a touch malicious and he leaned toward me to kiss the corner of my mouth, whispering his next words against my lips.
"The night I killed his parents, I let him believe he had hidden from me." He kissed me once and leaned back into his chair with a wistful smile. "I could hear his tiny heart thumping away like a rabbit's, panting in his closet as I stood outside of it. He whimpered when I clawed at the wall, but I don't often eat small children. They're never very filling. Besides, I'd already had both of his parents, I was full."
"So you let him live?"
"It seemed funny at the time."
"Because he was an orphan?" I arched a brow.
"Because he had to live his life knowing that at any moment I might come find him again. Look at what he became. My face has never stopped haunting him."
"You're kind of vindictive, Jer." Ed laughed until Jerry's eyes snapped to him.
"Don't call me that."
Ed held up his hands. "Sorry. Jerry. Master. Whatever."
"Go upstairs Edward. There's a delivery uniform in the closet for you. Hurry up and get changed."
Ed nodded, surprisingly without another word, and hurried up the stairs. It left us alone and when silence weighed down on the room Jerry reached up to get me to look at him with a finger against my cheek.
"Your having doubts," he said it flatly. "You didn't think I was serious when I asked you to kill for me."
I shrugged. "That's not it. I just didn't know Char Char was going to be involved in any of this."
"He wasn't until I took Edward, then he ran me over with his car and his mother stabbed a sale sign through my chest. It hurt. Now he is a problem. Will you take care of it for me?" When I only nodded he gave me a wicked smirk and his hand slipped into my hair to pull me closer. His lips brushed teasingly over mine as he spoke. "If you do, I'll give you a treat."
That coaxed a reluctant smile from me and he chuckled at my soft blush. It was hard to hide now that my skin was so pale. My hand smoothed down over his chest and I tried to lean in and kiss him, but he pulled back just out of my reach with a smirk.
"Tease," I murmured, but he only chuckled.
"I prefer to call it motivation. Show me what you'll do for me Natalie, and I will show you how grateful I can be."
I sighed, though I couldn't help my smile. "So is this how you're going to keep me under control? Turn me on and deny me satisfaction until I've done what you wanted?"
He shrugged one shoulder. "There are worse ways to ensure obedience."
To that, I could not disagree.

The plan to get Ed into the building worked better than I would have thought. I was surprised to learn that an invitation didn't nessisarily need to come from the home owner, at least not once one of us had gotten inside. Frankly it seemed like cheating, but it made things easier and that was nice. For a short moment I thought the security guard at the front door would be a problem, but Jerry wasted little time tearing into him. Part of me wanted to see the looks on people's faces when they reviewed the security tapes the next day. To them, it would look like the guy's neck just exploded. The dark part of me that had been growing since I was turned found that hilarious.
The fighting had already started when we made it up the elevator and into Peter's giant room of creepy collectables. I could hear Ed in the next room with Charlie but my focus was on the blonde girl with her back to us, frantically loading a pistol. Jerry placed a finger over his lips to signal I should be quiet, and pointed to one of the display cases. I moved behind it silently while he strolled casually up behind Charlie's girlfriend.
I could see them through the glass case I hid behind, but she couldn't see me. She was too distracted by Jerry and aiming the gun at his chest.
"So glad you're here," he grinned and the teenager leveled her gun at him with narrowed eyes. The first shot made my chest tighten in fear, but Jerry took it with hardly a flinch. It must have hurt, but he healed so quickly that by the time she had emptied the revolver into his chest he simply sighed. I watched him dig out the bullet in his shoulder with a tiny smirk.
"Werewolves," he said and began advancing on her again. I smiled to myself at her misfortune until she smashed the case around a goblet and grabbed it from the top of the display case.
"Vampires," she said and splashed the holy water inside into his face. The shreiking sound of pain that tore from him as he hit his knees made my heart ache and I rushed toward my fallen sire in panic. Amy fled, grabbing a mace from one of the wall displays but I couldn't care less at the moment. My only thought was Jerry's well being as I hit my knees beside him.
"Jerry!" I cried. "What do I do?"
He smacked away the hand I tried to place on his back, but I didn't hold it against him. I could see the side of his face not covered by his hand and the blackened flesh still sizzling beneath it. It had to be agonizing.
"How can I help?" I asked, voice breaking in my panic. He drew in an anguished breath and motioned vaguely after Amy.
"Get her," was all he said, so I pushed up to my feet, telling myself he would heal just as he had before, and dashed into the next room.
The scene I came upon made my heart ache again. Ed's arm was missing just above the elbow, his neck torn open down to the spine. Charlie was standing in front of him as he struggled to move toward him, blood dripping down the side of his head from what I could only assume was the blood covered mace in Amy's hands.
"Do it Charlie!" She pointed to Ed as her boyfriend slowly lifted a broken stick of wood. He was going to kill Ed and in that moment rage boiled up and swallowed me.
I dashed forward as he stepped toward Ed and grabbed Amy by her hair, wrapping an arm around her chest to keep her hands pinned down.
"Stop!" I growled, making him freeze as she whimpered. "Don't take another step or I will rip out her throat."
Charlie spun around and once he saw his girlfriend trapped in my arms he held up his hands dropping the stake to the ground.
"Don't hurt her!"
I nodded to the deadly bit of wood, letting my jaw crack and stretch into a vicious, inhuman show of teeth.
"Kick it away," I growled. He did without hesitation, and I had to admit a small part of me respected his devotion to this girl. The rest of me wanted to tear him apart for what he had done to Ed. At this point, the annoying brat might as well have been my little brother, and the dismal sight of him made anger swallow up all of the pity I had for the kid I'd once helped babysit. Ed choked out a breath, wheezing through the blood in his throat and fell down to the floor in exhaustion. Now that he knew he was safe, he could admit to himself the kind of pain he was in. It broke my heart to see it.
"Natalie?" Charlie's voice was a mixture of confusion and pity. "He got to you. I'm so sorry. I..."
I hissed, wrenching Amy's head to the side so he froze in place.
"Come on Char Char, it's not like my life was going in a great direction anyway." I laughed harshly, turning my mouth closer to Amy's neck. "Now I get to live forever. There are worse things."
He shook his head stepping toward me until I made Amy whimper with a jerk to her hair. "He made you a monster, Nat."
"I'm not sure I was very good to begin with," I laughed. "At least now I have a family that cares for me. Jerry is good to his family."
"He's a monster Natalie," Charlie shook his head and the pity in his eyes made me want to rip his face off. "He isn't capable of loving you."
I hissed, baring my teeth. I didn't like the doubt that slithered through me at his statement. I thought of Jerry's earlier comment, all but admitting that he was sleeping with me because it made me easier to manipulate. I pushed the thought away before it could take me over.
"I'm a monster now too," I said softly. "He's the only one who could love me now."
"She has a point." The deep voice made us all turn to look at the man who'd entered the room behind us. Jerry smiled at me, his face once again the beautiful thing I had been entranced by. When he reached out to stroke my cheek I let my eyes fall closed in the pleasure of it. The tiniest contact of skin was enough to chase away my doubts. He might have been a monster, but so was I, and now I was his kin. He wasn't going to hurt me, not when I was so loyal. He had been so good to me this far, good to Ed. Charlie couldn't see it because he was afraid, and that was valid. He should fear Jerry, but he didn't know what he was talking about. He couldn't understand the devotion I felt toward the creature that made me what I was now. Fortunately for him, that might change soon.
"Ed's hurt," I scowled, hissing at Charlie as he took a step back. I could hear his heart racing as Jerry watched him. He deserved to be afraid after what he had done to my little brother.
Jerry turned his black gaze down on the boy bleeding onto the floor before it snapped back to Charlie.
"You're not a very good friend, are you? First you cut him from your life and then you try to kill him. I can see why Edward hates you so much."
"He tried to cut off my head," Ed groaned from the floor. "Fucking douchebag."
"Don't worry Edward," Jerry smiled. "We'll show him the error of his ways."
He pulled Amy from my arms, smirking when she whimpered in fear at their sudden closeness. Charlie lurched forward as if to stop him, but I hissed and grabbed him by the throat. Jerry chuckled at the kid's gumption and his eyes moved to Amy, trembling in his arms.
"You really shouldn't have gotten her involved Charlie. Look at all the pain you've caused for all your snooping."
"Get your hands off her!" The kid cried until I tightened my grip on his throat.
"No Charlie," Jerry sighed and pulled Amy back against his chest. "I think there's a lesson to be learned here. You should have left well enough alone. Now look what you've done to this poor girl and all of your friends."
Jerry tugged her head to the side, his eyes locked on Charlie as he bared his fangs and sank them into her neck. He wasn't gentle, not when shaking his head to tear deepier into her throat clearly caused Charlie such pain. Amy cried out but she couldn't get away from him and soon after her body went limp in his arms. He grinned when she slouched into his arms, passing out from the blood loss, and Charlie blinked through a tear that trailed down his cheek. I watched in silence as the teenager cried quietly, and wondered idly why it didn't bother me as much as it should have. He had always been such a sweet boy, but now as I looked at him all I could see was a threat to Jerry. I couldn't let him ruin our lives, regardless of what they had become. Ed groaned on the floor, drawing my attention as he curled into himself in pain.
"Evil?" I called, looking to Jerry who was still watching the kid he tormented in a grim satisfaction. "He's hurt, Jerry. His arm..."
"We can help him," he placated, finally looking back at me. "Where is your arm Edward?"
The kid groaned again, rolling onto his back. "It's with Peter in his panic room. That guy is the biggest pussy I've ever met. Can't believe I used to think he had any answers."
"You're young," Jerry smiled pityingly. "You have much to learn." He lifted Amy up into his arms to sling her over his shoulder. "Let's go get you fixed up, shall we?"
I smiled at that and turned my eyes back to Charlie. I smacked his face with my claws, delighting in the way he cried out in pain before my fingers tangled in his hair.
"Lead the way," I grinned at him.
Charlie straggered forward, leading us into the next room and up in front of a giant steel door. Even through the thick metal I could hear Peter panting in fear. He might not have been able to see us on his monitors, but he could see the children and his heart sped up as we all stood outside.
Charlie was shaking in my grip as I walked him to the door. I pushed him toward the camera so I knew Peter could see him.
"Open the door. I want that arm."
"Fuck off!" He called from inside. "The second this door opens you're going to kill all of us. "
"We don't care about you. I just want Ed's arm back. Open the door and I'll take it, then you can go back to cowering in your little sanctuary."
"How thick do you think I am?" He laughed. I glanced breifly at Jerry, watching me in curiosity as the girl dangled over his shoulder. When I turned back I grabbed Charlie's wrist with my free hand and hissed.
"Fine. If you don't open this door I'm going to rip one of Charlie's arms off, and you can watch me beat him to death with it."
"Mr. Vincent," Charlie swallowed in fear as I stretched the limb out away from his body. "Please."
I watched another tear slip down his cheek and smiled. "I know you're a coward Peter, but are really going to sit there while I kill this child? How long do you think it will take to get the memory of his screams out of your head?"
"You might want to listen," Jerry chimed in with a soft laugh. "Natalie can be pretty vicious when she's motivated. It's one of my favorite things about her. You should have seen what she did to her scum of a boss." He gave a low whistle. "Might not want to piss her off."
"Fuck," Peter spat inside, but I didn't hear him move for the door.
"Fine," I growled pulling Charlie's arm away from his body until I heard his shoulder pop and he cried out. I kept pulling and he let out a cry of pain as the shoulder threatened to dislocate. Inside the panic room, Peter cursed again, scrambling toward the door.
"Wait!" I heard him hit the button and couldn't help my smile. "Fuck me, I get it ok, just don't hurt him."
I let go of Charlie's arm and let him cradle it with a hand. His heart was pounding in his chest, his breath quick and shallow. I watched him blink away another tear as the metal door slowly scraped open. Peter was inside with a bent iron nail held out toward me. His eyes danced between us, settling breifly on Jerry before they moved back to me and he kicked Ed's arm out into the room beside me. It was still twitching, even severed as it was, the fingers grasping at the open air.
"Thanks pal," I smiled a little too widely. "For a moment there I thought you were really going to be a of piece of shit."
"You don't have to kill him," he grit out glarring at Jerry. "He's just a kid. He's no threat to you."
"He and his mother would have been perfectly fine if he hadn't involved himself in my business. I warned him, but he didn't listen. Just had to be the hero." Jerry sighed, tilting his head to regard the silently weeping teenager. "And getting run over and impaled was not one of my favorite ways to spend an evening."
"Fuck," Peter sighed. His eyes shifted to the boy in my grasp and back to Jerry. He slapped the panic button and the door began to slide closed again. "Please, just make it quick. I'm really sorry mate. This really isn't fair."
Charlie's eyes narrowed, but I couldn't fault him for the anger. This guy was such a coward that he was truly going to settle for saving himself. I opened my mouth to comment on it before the door could close completely, but the words were cut off by the elbow Charlie rammed back into my nose. I cursed angrily, head flying back in a disorienting flash of pain, and he took the moment to slip out of my hands and dash into the panic room just as the door sealed closed.
"Are you fucking kidding me?" I cried.
Jerry hissed in irritation behind me, dropping Amy to the floor as I pounded angrily on the steel. Failure sat like a heavy stone inside my chest and my eyes went guiltily to my maker.
"I didn't mean to, he-" Jerry held up a finger for quiet and let out a heavy sigh, moving to stand beside me. He pressed his hand to the door, his eyes moving along the giant frame before settling down on the space that Charlie must have been standing.
"You're a slippery little thing, aren't you Charlie? I have to commend you for that at least. Your luck is truly remarkable."
"Amy is still out there," the teen spoke to Peter inside. He was doing he best to ignore Jerry's taunts, but the fear in his voice and the smell that permeated the room even through the thick steel was proof enough that he couldn't.
"She's as good as dead, mate." Peter reaponded from inside the panic room. "This door isn't opening again until the sun rises."
"He'll kill her!" Charlie complained, but it was clear Peter was the only one of them still thinking clearly. As irritating as that was.
"They will kill all of us if I open this door. It's not happening."
Jerry smiled at that, nodding his head to the side with a soft, mocking laugh. "I suppose that means your girlfriend is coming with me Charlie. If you want her back, you know where to find me. See you soon neighbor." He smirked, knocking on the steel door hard enough to make a loud bang. "I think we both know it's time to end this."
I hurried to grab Ed's arm, smiling weakly to him as he stumbled into the room with us and leaned weakly against the wall. I was happy to see how quickly his flesh began to mend itself when I stuck the severed limb back in its place. His neck was almost healed now and he could move it regularly, and after a few moments he began to wiggle his fingers too. Our ability to regenerate was probably one of the coolest perks of being a vampire. Ed and I healed slower than Jerry, but I had to assume that was due to his age. It was a good lesson though. I was a vampire now, but knowing my own limits was a great step towards survival. If I wanted to make it half as long as Jerry had, I needed to remember that I was not completely invulnerable.
"Wicked," Ed grinned even though I could see the pain still etched into his expression. He was close to collapsing again, so I slung my arm around him and helped him to stand straight. Jerry nodded toward the door and we followed without question. He kicked the body of Peter's bimbo out of the way of the elevator door so we could ride it down and I busied myself with keeping Ed upright. Without a security guard to stop us, we made it out of the building without any fuss and Jerry led us to his truck. I tucked Ed into the back seat while Jerry slung the unconscious blonde in with him. A couple was walking down the street as we did this, just leaving the club on the bottom floor of Peter's penthouse. They tried to run from us at the sight of the girl and the mangled boy in the back seat, but Jerry and I managed to catch them before they could get far. I held the girl down in Ed's lap as he fed, watching as the blood kicked his healing back into full swing and his neck knit itself together entirely. The man was Jerry's, weeping against the car until he didn't have the strength for it anymore. Once the girl was dead and Ed was leaning comfortably against the back seat, Jerry offered me what was left of his victim and I greedily oblidged. We left them laying in the street as we drove away.
I couldn't help the quiet anger that boiled up inside of me as we drove back home. Seeing the blonde unconscious behind me made me wonder just what Jerry had planned for her. Was he going to add her to our slowly growing family? What did that mean for me? I'd been enjoying my singular attention from the vampire, but if he kept her I couldn't help wondering if she would become competition for his affections. The thought made me grind my teeth. He must have heard it, because Jerry glanced at me from the driver's seat with a small smile and reached out to grab my waist, tugging me up against his side.
"Don't pout Natalie. There's no reason to be jealous. You're just as beautiful now as you were before."
"Even with a younger model in the back seat?" I couldn't hide the clear irritation in my voice.
He chuckled, glancing into the rear view mirror at the passed out teen slumped in the seat beside Ed.
"You have to learn to share. She'll be joining the family soon."
I couldn't say the idea was particularly pleasant but I bit my tongue, turning to look out the window instead. He pinched my chin between his fingers to turn me back to look at him and leaned over to kiss me. When he pulled back he was grinning.
"Don't worry lover, I promise not to neglect you."
"You'd better," I grumbled, unable to help the swell of pleasure that consumed me with just the briefest of his attentions. Jerry grinned at my obvious jealousy and squeezed my waist, but he didn't respond.
Hello again! I can't help myself right now, this story has reinserted itself in my brain since rewatching the film like 282726 times, so I guess that's what's happening. XD
First of all, Im sorry if this chapter felt a little rushed, but I didn't want to spend too much time rehashing things directly from the film. You've all seen it, so there's no point painstakingly rewriting what had already been made.
I wanted to really stick to Jerry's character from the movie. As much as I love him, I'm not too sure how kind he can be for an extended amount of time and I wanted to make it clear that he is a manipulative fucker when he needs to be. In both movies, he was quick to capitalize on the weaknesses of the people he wanted to turn without outright violence and I don't think Nat would be an exception. Sure he enjoys sex, but that doesn't necessarily mean he loves anyone. Regardless of what movies like to portray, that shit doesn't just happen overnight. In Jerry's case, Idk if it does at all. That's not to say he doesn't care about Nat, in his own way. Even 2011 Jerry stroked the hair of his progeny and kept them fed. I think if anything, being a 400 year old sociopathic monster means affection is expressed in a different way. Even in the 1980s flick, he was so sweet to Evil Ed, which I really wanted to show in the beginning. He called him Edward, and in both films basically seduced him with the thought that he would finally be accepted. I think Jerry has a soft spot for his progeny, but at the end of the day, he's not above getting what he wants by using their need for him. In Natalie's case, she obviously has a thing for him so he isn't going to ignore that as an obvious in on her weakness to please him. In both films he sent Ed to kill Charlie because he knew how angry he was that Charlie had spurned him. He's a manipulative bastard, but that's part of why we all love him. Ruthless, sexy fucker.
Anywho! Hope you enjoy, and leave me some feedback if you can. It's been so long since I wrote anything and I need to know if I'm utterly fucking it up.
