DO NOT LET JACOB MAKE THESE COOKIES!

"Jacob! I am going to be gone for the morning. Everything you need is on the counter. Can you make the cookies? The recipe's on the fridge." Bella yelled. She fiddled with the long sterling necklace clasped to her neck. She looked in the mirror. Her flowing brown hair was pinned into a bun at the back of her head, with wispy strands framing her delicate heart shaped face.

The reply came back a few seconds later. "Ok, no problem Bells. I am a master chef!" The second he stopped speaking, there was a crash, a few curses, then silence.

"Good. Jake, what happened, what did you break this time?" She glanced at her watch, five minutes until her interview. She played with her hair one final time then glanced hesitantly back to the kitchen where Jacob was. "Jake?"

"What? Oh, the bowl, the metal one. Metal sure isn't as strong as it used to be."

Bella giggled. That was part of the reason she married him; because he could make her laugh. "Ok Jake, whatever. I should be home in a few hours!" She reached for the umbrella positioned haphazardly by the door. Bella didn't need to look outside to know that it was raining, it always rained in Forks.

"Ok! Luck!" he yelled back, still not making an appearance from the kitchen. Smiling as she did so, Bella closed the door to their apartment behind her. She smiled as she opened her umbrella, shielding her from the rain. She smiled as she walked to her interview, just a few blocks away. She was still smiling as she pulled open the library's door just on time. She was smiling because she knew she would nail the interview, and she knew Jacob would do just fine making the cookies. After all what could go wrong? They were just cookies and it was just a job interview.

Bella was still smiling when she arrived home, just an hour later. She nailed it and they hired her right away. The Senior Direction even said that she was the most qualified and competent applicant they'd seen all year. Most of the slotted time was spent going over her expectations and responsibilities. Who knew the manager of a library had so many responsibilities?

She closed the door, dropped the umbrella in the stand by the door and stepped out of her coat, laying it on the front bench. "Jacob, I'm back!"

She stepped into the kitchen. Jacob was there, bent over a car magazine. He looked up and smiled his signature sunny smile. "How'd the interview go?"

The room was sort of clean. Not Bella's standard of clean, but certainly Jacob's, but she was in too good of a mood to bring it up. "It went great, I got the job!"

He smiled again, a huge, gleaming smile that took up half his face. It put a similar one on her own. "I knew you could do it." He shot out of his chair and picked her up, spinning her around. They laughed and hugged tightly once he put her down.

She looked around then, expecting to see a tray of her infamous chocolate chip cookies to reward herself with, cooling on the rack, but it was empty. There was only a towel draped clumsily over it. She frowned and said in a quiet voice, "Did you make the cookies?"

He set his book down again, letting the spine clap against the table. He patted the towel. "They're right here!"

Bella sighed internally with relief. But when she lifted the cloth off the cookies, her stomach sunk into her feet. She looked at Jake, eyes wide and flaming, "Jake! What the hell are these?"

He looked at her confused, his eyes scrunched together. Slowly, he looked from her to the cookies, his face wrinkled in utter confusion. "Cookies?"

"Do those look like my cookies? What did you do to them?" she yelled in disbelief. The 'cookies' on the cooling rack, were not really cookies at all, but thick, gray hockey pucks. Strands of fabric looking fibers jutted out of them in an assortment of colors. They looked half-baked; the centers were still mushy and runny while the edges looked rock hard.

"What do you mean 'what did I do them'? I baked them! I did everything you told me to!"

"No, you didn't. I asked you to make chocolate chip cookies and these are not chocolate chip cookies. They're hockey pucks." She picked one up and banged it on the table to prove her point. Despite looking underbaked in the centers, the cookie didn't crack. Bella had to run her hand across the table to make sure the table was still in one piece. She shook her head, her forehead creasing as she frowned at the cookies. How could he mess up so horribly?

"Oh…I didn't use chocolate. I didn't think it would work with the other ingredients."

"It wouldn't work with flour, sugar, and eggs?" She raised her eyebrows questionably and crossed her arms over her chest, she wasn't impressed.

Jacob shrugged, his sculpted shoulders falling. "Well, it would work with that, but not with chicken, buns, ketchup and mustard!"

Bella's eyes widened with fear, she twisted her neck to the counter to find it empty. "You put chicken in the cookies?!" Instead of sounding as angry as she felt, her voice just sounded desperate.

"You said to use everything on the counter!"

"No! I said everything you would need was on the counter. You were supposed to follow the recipe."

Jacob's dark chocolate eyes melted, turning them into molten seas of brown, "Oh…I was wondering why it didn't say when to put the chicken in…"

"That was for supper Jake I was going to make chicken burgers!" She put her face in her hands. Now they had nothing to eat for supper.

His eyes widened like a child's on Christmas morning. "Oh yum! When's supper?" He said, deadly serious.

Bella groaned in frustration and threw her petite hands down on the counter, "You used all the chicken, Jake."

"Oh, well, we can just eat these then, dessert and supper in one! I wouldn't be surprised if they became the new thing!" He pointed to the cookies, smiling smugly. He truly believed his idea was brilliant.

Bella sighed and began to pace in front of the stove. They'd have to order in. It was already getting late and the stores would be closing soon. "Jake those will be disgusting."

"They can't be that bad." He took a giant bite out of one of the cookies only to spit it out. " I think I over baked them."

"Jake, you're ridiculous."

"Sorry?"

"Whatever, we'll just order pizza and I'll remake the cookies. I promised Emily I'd bring them for the boys tomorrow. Think you can handle ordering?"

"Yup, no problem!"

While Jacob ordered the pizza, his hands clasped over the phone to hold it in place, Bella made the cookies. They were almost done; they just had to be mixed, but she couldn't find the mixer. She asked him.

Jacob hung up the phone and set it back in the cradle. He turned away from her, his face purposefully hidden. "Oh about that," he said slowly, his nervousness clear in his voice. He turned back toward her, his eyes on the floor, and pointed a long finger to the kitchen sink.

Bella turned slowly toward the kitchen sink. Her mouth fell open and her eyes went wide at the sight. "Jake, what did you do?"

In the sink was the mixer, or rather what was left of it. It was battered and beaten. Wires and screws sat in a disarray in the sink. The smooth chrome finish was scraped and large gouges were taken out of it. It was in pieces.

"The stupid thing wouldn't work!"

"So you destroyed it?" she cried, looking at him in disbelief for the second time that day, "Did you even put the whisks in?"

"The whisks?" Bella accusingly pointed to the whisks lying side-by-side in the other chamber of the sink.

"Oh…those…yeah d-don't touch those." he stuttered while shaking his head in disgust.

"Why?" she asks, exhausted by the sudden turn in the day's events.

"The toilet was plugged."

She widens her eyes in shock. "So you...Jacob what the hell! We have a toilet plunger under the bathroom sink!"

"Really? Oh...sorry Bells."

Suddenly a smell assaults her nose, making her gag in response. "Jacob what's that smell? It smells like pee." On closer inspection, Bella realized it was coming from the sink.

"Oh…I really had to go…I couldn't make it outside."

"You pissed in the kitchen sink! Don't you have super speed?"

"Not when my bladders full. Plus, I wanted to teach that stupid piece of shit a lesson." He looks at the disjointed mixer angrily. Just then, a shrill sound, wails through the tense air. "Pizza's here." He smiled a big smile, kissed the top of her head, and went to answer the door.

Bella breathed deeply, trying desperately to clear her mind. But it was too much, the feeling of anger bubbled inside of her like a volcano: building and stirring until it became a sweltering inferno. She tried to contain it, her hands shook at her sides. He'd managed to ruin so much with just a little bit of responsibility. How could he? How could he? She asked over and over in her mind, her mantra only fueling her anger. Finally, she couldn't contain it any longer. She screamed, loud enough for the entire apartment building to hear, "JACOB!
