Epilogue

'How was school Akira?' Soubi asked the young girl.

'Daddy, the teacher gave me lots of homework and I don't like it' she whimpered walking beside him

'Now, my darling, you know how important work is. I will always be there to help you. You can do it for a bright future' he smiled

'I know daddy.' She sighed.

'Remember all your father did for us over the years. He never could have without the strength and wisdom of his learning. ' Soubi lectured.

'You talk about papa, a lot.' She said grabbing her adoptive fathers hand as they walked.

'That's because I love him. He is truly one of a kind and inspiring. You will understand someday.'

They came to their small home and Soubi unlocked the door. Akira ran inside and into her room to play with her toys.

'Akira, homework.' Soubi sighed.

Kids

Never was there a happier day than when Soubi brought the baby girl home from the adoption agency. He lived for his family.

He was distracted by a baby's cry. He headed softly to the master bedroom. In the crib was the second child successfully adopted and given a new chance and a new life. Baby boy Daichi. He lifted him softly from his crib.

'Hungry little one? It is almost time for our supper too.' He grinned and headed to the kitchen where the table had already been laid.

He sat at the table with the boy cradled gently in his arms as he awaited the milk to be heated. There was a padded footstep sound coming towards the kitchen. A pair of crutches and a single leg swung into view of the kitchen door frame.

'You spoil our kids rotten, my love'

'Not as much as I love and spoil you, kitten.' Soubi smiled looking up.

Ritsuka chuckled and used his crutches to swing his way to the table. He stroked his son's cheek and kissed Soubi.

'Though that may be true, I clearly love and spoil all of you more.' He laughed winking.

Ritsuka then produced his camera.

'Let's get a family photo for the wall.' He said gesturing to the hallway. It was covered in Soubi's favourite paintings and Ritsuka's favourite photographs.

'First, supper and the playdate with Keiko's daughter Hana' Soubi smiled.

'Of course, perhaps they can be in the photo with us. The whole family together' Ritsuka said taking a seat.

'Papa!' Akira squealed happily running towards Ritsuka.

He effortlessly lifted her onto his lap and bounced her up and down whilst tickling her tummy, making her squeal happily.

Ritsuka smiled.

He couldn't be happier. His husband, his son and his daughter all together at last. Everything he was hoping for.

A family of his own.
