Percy was holding Annabeth in his arms, rocking her back and forth. "Its okay, everything is going to be okay." Percy cooed.
"You can't know that!" Annabeth sobbed into Percy's chest
"Yes I can. I am the son of Poseidon… duh…" Percy said haughtily.
Annabeth smiled weakly at Percy's attempt to lighten the mood. She wiped her eyes, pulling away from Percy a little so she could speak without her voice being muffled by Percy's tee shirt. She sighed, " I'm sorry, It is just you know with everything that had been happening…"
Percy nodded with understanding, gently pecking her on the cheek, "Its okay, I'm scared too…"
Annabeth hugged Percy tightly, reflecting on how badly their last battle with their new enemy had gone. And it wouldn't be wrong to say that it was her fault either, she had been in charge of coming up with a strategy, which ultimately failed. She couldn't remember a time when she felt worse or more stupid, especially since lives were lost.
"Hey Annabeth?" Percy said.
"What's up?"
"You know I love you, right?"
Annabeth couldn't help but blush with pleasure at the way he said those words with so much adoration and sweetness. "I love you more." Annabeth said matter-of-factly.
"Yeah right." Percy snorted.
Annabeth rolled her eyes, kissing Percy lightly. "We had better go to training… the other campers are probably waiting for us to start."
"Fine…" Percy grumbled, irritated that training was getting in the way of kissing his girlfriend. "Are you sure you are okay?" Percy asked, wiping away Annabeth's last tear.
Annabeth nodded her affirmation and gripping his hand tightly in her own she lead the way to the training grounds.
"Hey Annabeth."
"What is it Seaweed Brain?"
Percy kissed her, not a light peck but a deep and lasting one. "Okay let's go train now."
Annabeth smiled at him and nodded, content with the knowledge that no matter how scared she got, or how hard training became she would always have a loving boyfriend who gave her kisses at just the right times.
