A/N: As soon as I discovered there was a Starship category on here, I knew I had to write something. Enjoy! :D

Disclaimer: As much as I wish I did, I DON'T OWN THIS! Everything recognizable belongs to Team StarKid.

Commander Up was taking a walk through the Academy dormitory halls when he heard a loud crash from inside one of the rooms. The door was slightly ajar, so when he knocked on it, it opened to reveal that new girl, Taz. Tears were streaming down her face and her skinny arms were crossed over her chest.

"Taz?" He asked, walking into her room. "Is everything alright in here?"

She put her hands over her face to hide her tears, and kicked the textbook at her feet. Up leaned over and picked it up.

"Oh," he said, walking over to put a hand on her shoulder. "So it's calculus that's got you down, is it?"

"It doesn't make sense!" Taz exclaimed. "I've been trying for hours and nothing! I'm going to fail here, and then I'll never be a Starship Ranger."

The tears began to fall even harder and Taz plopped down on her bed, hugging her knees to her chest.

"Ever since you saved me from those robots at my quincenera, I've wanted to be a Starship Ranger. But that's not going to happen because of Dead-Goddamn cal-cu-lus!" Taz couldn't control her anger. She ripped the book from Up's hands and threw it at the wall for the second time that day.

Up looked down at the small girl, her eyes red and puffy from crying.

"How'd you like me to help you?"

"And then you take this doohickey over here, and multiply it by this doohickey over thereā€¦"

They had been going at it for almost two hours now, and Taz was finally starting to understand. Up saw great potential in this girl; someday, she would be one of the best Starship Rangers out there. After about another half-hour, Taz really, truly understood calculus.

"Muchas gracias, Up," she said, looking up at him with admiration. "I really owe you."

"It was my pleasure, Taz. If you wanna be a Starship Ranger, you have to remember this: even when something as big and scary as calculus tries to knock you down, no matter what, you always have to get back up. And if you get back up, you know what that will make you?"

"What?" she asked. Up was an inspiration to her.

"That, my friend, will make you tough."

A/N: Dead-God that was short! Oh well, reviews?

Hugs and butterfly kisses,

Carly :D
