Hello again!

Here it is, my second story which isn't one-shot. I don't know yet how many chapters it's going to have, but I guess that more than 10. I don't have it already written on my hard drive, so I'm going to publish next chapters every time I'm free. Unfortunately, from September I'm starting high school in new city so I guess there's gonna be a small pause in publishing. Still, I can't hold this idea inside my head any longer and this is why you're reading this thing now :)
I wish you good time with this FanFic and all the best!

Disclaimer: I do not own Tomb Raider, Assasin's Creed or any historical places and persons from this story. Everything except my own idea belongs to its rightful owners.

Prologue

The narrow streets of Florence were bustling, even despite late hour. The sound of steps was filling the alleyways, along with conversations and laughter. Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore, Palazzo Vecchio and many other monuments of the great past of this city had the possibility to witness the ritual of late dinner, common among the citizens of Florence. It seemed like that night, no one was alone by themselves.

But there was.

A young woman was slowly walking past crowded restaurants and cafes. Her big, hazel eyes were traveling from one side of the street to another, trying to find something more reclusive, and hardly available to see anything but crowds of Italians. Her pace was quick and was causing her long, brown hair with ginger reflexes to flutter.

After a while of fruitless search, the woman sighed, turned around and marched towards the direction she had come from. Ten minutes later, she entered Piazza Ognissanti. She directed her footsteps to the luxurious building next to the river, with golden inscription, "Westin Excelsior". Inside, she was greeted by a young receptionist. She approached the desk and asked for the key to room number 311.

"Of course, Miss Croft," he replied, smiling, and gave her the key.

"Thank you," Miss Croft smiled back. "Could I as you a favour?"

"Of course, Madam." The man nodded.

"I'd like to have something to eat in my room."

"That shouldn't be a problem. What would you like?"

She thought for a moment. "Two fried eggs, some back bacon and a slice of delicious Italian bread."

"All right. I'll pass that message to our cook. Your meal should be brought to your apartment in less that thirty minutes."

"Thank you."

After this little conversation the woman entered the lift in the far end of the lobby. She pressed the button and traveled up.

When she closed the door of her room behind her, she collapsed on the big, comfortable double bed and stretched her body. Several minutes had passed before she got up and went out on the balcony to look at the river. Arno was flowing slowly, languorously. Lady Croft leant against the balustrade, staring at the reflection of city lights visible on the surface of the water and forgetting about all the artefacts she needed to retrieve and all the bad guys whose asses she had to kick. She could stop worrying about all these things, as those were her first holidays for a couple of years; the holidays which she needed and which she was going to enjoy.

She couldn't know how much.
