The Song of the Jyushinshuu |
I started a similar project several weeks ago, but scrapped it. Then I heard a commercial in a similar format the other day, and thought, "Oh, yeah!" So I did this while munching my macaroni and cheese last night. Amazing what you can do, when you've nothing better to do. ;o)
BTW, anyone else who writes poetry... do you ever get the feeling that stories just sort of "happen" because they logically proceed from point A to
point B to point C-- but poetry actually has to be "constructed"? My meter's a bit fuzzy for some of the lines, but I think it works.
In case anyone isn't used to this type of format, the last word of each stanza is embedded in the first word/first part of the first word of the next stanza. So, for instance, the first line reads: "Though they're crazy and insane". But it's never actually said... ;o) Each of these is an insult, ranging in severity-- so if you don't know one of the words, it's probably just as well. ^_^
Kurei:
Please meet my Jyushinshuu,
Introducing themselves by name;
They're quite pleased to meet with you,
Though they're crazy and--
Kai:
Insane I know it'd be,
Not to start with the obvious pick.
Meet our leader, dear Meguri,
Though all know he's a--
Meguri:
Diction's not where his talent lies;
We only hear him snore.
Rassen has no personality to disguise
The fact that he's a--
Rassen:
Bordering the fine line
'Twixt one who heals and hurts,
Our Genjuro is a surgeon fine,
Though we know he's older than--
Genjuro:
Dirtying her hands for our Master,
Neon's pleased to undertake any chore.
We know she'd love him through any disaster,
And willingly become his--
Neon:
Horrible lies have been spread
About Mikoto's judgmental stunts;
Don't believe what you hear 'bout her bed;
She's more than just some perverted--
Jisho:
Contrary to popular belief,
Joker's really a man of much class;
Though his deplorable accent brings grief,
And he's such an annoying smart--
Noroi:
Assuming you're following our song,
To see Jisho, I'd like you to come--
Like an ox, our Jisho is strong,
And like an ox, our Jisho is--
Mikoto:
Dumbfounded I'm sure you'd be
If of our ninja we neglected to say-
Such long girlish hair flowing free,
I'm convinced he has to be--
Raiha:
Gauging his opponents well,
Kai's talents let us stress;
He sends his enemies to hell,
But his lack of fashion sense causes--
Joker:
Distressing it may be to save
For last Noroi the Feared!
He's strong! He's able! He's brave!
But we secretly all think he's--
All:
Weird as it must seem,
It's time for us to roam--
You see we love each other so much,
That's why we work alone!
