Is That All It Takes?
She smiled at him, one last smile.
Her full, cherry lips parting in a devastating smile.
She looked at him, one last look.
Her brilliant blue eyes shining, batting her long eyelashes at him.
She tossed her vivid red hair, one last toss.
Her red locks caught by the wind, fluttering gently around her face.
She laughed at him, one last laugh.
Her tinkling voice adding sparkle to the snowy air.
And then she turned around and left.
Just like that.
Like she didn't think he mattered.
Like she never had.
Like she didn't care about him.
Like she never had.
Like she didn't think he was important to her life.
Like she never had.
His face crumpled-broken, hurt.
His eyes lost their liveliness- dimmed, darkened.
His smile slid off his face- like there was no happiness left in the world.
His heart broke- audibly, irreparably.
His soul was torn, ripped, wrenched from his being.
His life source seemed to flicker and die
The world crumbled to bits.
The colour drained out.
The sound died out.
The life bled out.
She had once befriended him.
When he was lonely.
She had once flown with him.
When he was scared.
She had once been with him.
When he needed her.
She had once loved him.
When he worshipped her with every fibre of his being
She had brought him to life in his deadest hour.
When he needed the companionship.
Her companionship.
All for what?
To give him the courage to hope.
And then shatter his resolve?
To make him believe in love.
And then break his heart?
To make him dare to live.
And then want to die?
She was his world.
His everything.
And she just left
He begged.
Please.
He cried out.
Rose!
He apologised.
Forgive me!
He promised.
Rose! I love you!
She turned back.
Her blue eyes cold, condescending.
And then she stabbed him, killed him with a single sentence.
I don't love you, I never have.
That was all it took for Scorpius' heart to die.
