One shot for The Skeleton Key. From Ben/Lukes POV.
"Hello Ben. I'm Caroline."
She was pretty. That was the first thing he noticed about her. Her skin was smooth. Her hair was thick and blond. Her eyes shone with life; with care.
He hated knowing what they were going to do to her. She didn't deserve it. Not to say that he had, but she was something different. She had come to help him, a man she didn't know. She had come to care, and they were going to take her years.
He had tried to tell her. He had tried to get her away. In the end, they had been too strong, and they got her.
He had seen the pain and confusion in her eyes after they were loaded in the ambulance. They weren't the same color or shape as they were supposed to be, but he could still see the spark of life she had.
They lived the rest of their lives together. Without the constant drugging, they recovered quickly and were soon let out of the hospital.
They hadn't dared to try and get their bodies back; Papa Justify and Cecile were too strong, and had the advantage of youth. Instead they found a small place as far away from the bayou as possible.
He hadn't expected to fall for her. She hadn't expected to fall for him. But it happened, and they soon died together, much sooner than they had been destined to.
