Chapter 11 Time Warp

Wally's Future

The last thing Wally West remembered before the blinding bright white light that consumed his vision was with his friends on a rooftop. They were challenging a villain named Time Master, who was really obnoxious and know it all to the speedster. Wally managed to get a few dozen hits in but wasn't fast enough to save Artemis or Superboy from his time spell. Now, he had gotten the blast, hearing his best friend yelling. He wondered what Time Master had done to Robin. Hopefully it wasn't somewhere unpleasant…

Slowly Wally opened his eyes, the dim bulb lights making his eyes wince and squint. It was deathly quiet around him, no trace of movement or talking could be heard. The speedster sat up and blinked as his eyes adjusted to the dimness of the room. Around him, the medical machines were mostly broken, screens cracked and wires over the place. Other medical beds in the room were tattered and unkempt. There were cracks in the wall, plaster littering over the floor. Frowning, disturbed by the shambles of the room, Wally stood up and stretched then made his way to the curtained window. Pulling the curtain aside, Wally gazed out in abhor, at once was Central City.

The city lay in ruins as far as his eyes could see, abandoned damaged cars were flipped all over, roads cracked and torn, and buildings were half standing with mountains of debris surrounded them. Wally's blue hues were wide in shock, as he turned and attempted to speed out. He had to know if his family was alive, if Barry and Iris were…

"I must be out of juice. Time travel does drain the battery" Wally spoke out loud to himself as he stood in the middle of the room. Wally then left the room and out into the hallway, which was equally demolished, destroyed plaster covering the floor while wheelchairs and medical beds were all toppled over onto their sides. Wally's stomach growled as he made his way towards to hospital cafeteria, just a few floors down.

"I wonder what happened…how I got here and why Central City is in ruins. Where is everyone? Where is Uncle Barry? Am I the only one here? Where's the League? The Team?"

Wally made his way down the several flights of stairs down to the first floor and entered the lobby. Like the floor he had previously been on, the lobby was also disastrous.

"Please let there be food" Wally said loudly and hopefully, his voice echoing as he entered the deserted room. He made his way to the kitchen and searched the cabinets and cupboards. Luckily there were still some snack packs. Wally devoured those and found some chips, munching loudly on them. Once done, he could feel his body being energized. He then zoomed off rushing towards home first, half hoping and dreading what he would find there.

Wally skidded to a stop as he ran into his neighborhood. There stood his home, still partially standing in the mist of rumble, windows jagged and broken, the front door gone, and shingles of the roof missing. Wally gulped and made his way inside the house that he called home. The house that he grew up in, that held so many memories… It was now barely recognizable. It seemed like a tornado had occurred inside, furniture and walls ripped and scattered across the room.

"Anyone home?" Wally called out hopefully while searching throughout the house for anyone to no avail. Wally then sped over to his uncle and aunt's house, which was also just as deserted and demolished with no one in sight.

Wally swallowed and continued through the city when he saw two figures standing on a mountain of debris. Skidding to a stop, dust rising as he halted, he saw two figures slowly made their way down. Wally's blue hues widen as the dust clear revealing Slade Wilson, also known as Deathstroke. The younger male beside him was dark haired, tall, slender, but well built. Shaggy black hair framed his face and a domino mask hid his eyes. He wore mostly black; with a red bird symbol on his chest. The male looked startled by Wally's appearance but quickly recovered and squared his shoulders.

"I do hope you are enjoying the future Kid" Slade greeted the young speedster, hands clasped behind his back.

"This is the future? You did this? You...Took over the world?!"

"You are brighter then what others have given you credit for. Yes, The Light and I conquered the world"

"No! I don't believe that! Where are the League?!" Wally exclaimed angrily clenching his fists.

"They are no threat to the Light or me anymore. Let's just say they put up quite a show trying to prevent our domination. The cities and people that they swore to protect are now in ruins and are mine to control" Slade replied calmly.

With an anguish yell, Wally charged at Slade who stood where he stood nonchalantly.

Wally drew back his fists to pummel the man when the younger male appeared before him, protecting the mercenary. Wally delivered blinding punches sending the other male tumbling to the ground*

"Get up. You know what to do"

The male silently obeyed and clambered to his feet, wiping blood from the corner of his mouth and withdrew two escrima sticks. He twirled the sticks vigorously and attacked, leaping at and swiping at the speedster who easily avoided the attacks.

The only person he knew that used escrima sticks was Dick. But this guy...this guy couldn't be Dick. The colors were wrong to start with. Second, Dick would never work for someone like Slade or attack his friend. No, it had to be someone else…

The black and red clad figure backed away shifting into a defensive stance as Slade leaned and whispered something into the male's ear. He nodded and gazed at Wally.

"Master is right KF. They are all gone. Batman, Superman...Wonder Woman. Kaldur, M'gann, Roy, Conner and Artemis" the black and red clothed male spoke quietly.

Wally was stunned as his worst fear was confirmed. Nobody but Dick called him by "KF". This person was really his best friend.

Taking advantage of Wally's startling realization, Dick attacked; sticks swiftly smashing against the freckled cheek and another to his stomach, then several rapid hits to his chest which sent the speedster crashing to the ground. Wally felt a harsh kick to his ribs that took his breath away; he quickly rolled and sped away putting some distance between himself and Dick.

"Why are you doing this Dick?" Wally questioned in disbelief, panting as Dick pulled out a gadget from his belt remaining silent.

"He belongs to me now, he is my property. My soldier" Slade spoke as he casually walked around the two.

"No! Dick tell me what really happened" Wally pleaded looking at his older version of his so called best friend who stood tense and glanced at Slade, who nodded amusingly, giving him permission to speak.

"What Slade says is true Wally. We belong to Slade and the Light. Batman , the League and other heroes and heroines that refused to serve were hunted down."

"Why didn't you refuse? Why didn't you fight?" Wally couldn't believe this was happening, that this could be the future.

"Believe me Wally, I did. I was on the run for a long time after I lost contact with the others. Some of us were hunted down as well, but to serve the Light, against our will. You don't want to know the details"

Wally shook his head looking away from his friend.

"Now I believe we entertained your former friend. Don't kill him though, he could be of some use to us" Slade said and chuckled. Dick swiftly flung a device at Wally who zoomed away, but the device began to radiate an invisible pulse around him. Wally groaned holding his head his movements becoming sluggish.

"Feels like Count Vertigo..."Wally thought as he fell onto his hands and knees. His vision was blurred and dimming. He glanced up one last time to see a flash of red and yellow. Slade and Dick had retreated while Barry rushed to his nephew's side.

"Uncle Barry?" Wally mumbled as darkness consumed his vision.

"Sh..hang in there kiddo. It's going to be okay"

Hushed voices could be heard as Wally regained consciousness. Opening his eyes slowly, he stared up the concerned faces of his uncle and the fellow Leaguers.

"There's no place like home" Wally mumbled groggily which received amused chuckles.

"Seems like he's alright"

"Now we need to get M'gann, Conner, and Dick back"

Hearing his best friend's name cause Wally to sit up abruptly, ignoring the sudden dizziness as he gazed wide eyed at them.

"Dick is in trouble! He was serving Slade! We have to go back! I mean forward time travel wise! Wait a minute, the future is not always certain right?" Wally rambled anxiously. He then recounted his adventure and encounter with Slade and Dick to the League.

"Calm down Wal. We'll get him home" Barry reassured the redhead speedster.

"If we can get to Dick in time, we can prevent what Wally saw from happening" the Dark Knight remarked tensely.

"Wait, how did you guys find me?" Wally inquired curiously.

"Time Master has agreed to help us" Barry answered cheerfully.

Just then the blonde archer of the Team entered the room along with Kaldur.

"Wally" Artemis uttered his name as she made her way over to him.

"Good to see you Blondie" Wally replied with a grin who was given a punch in the arm from the female.

"Want to exchange stories?" Wally then inquired jokingly.

"This is not the time" Artemis replied as she glared at him.

"I have no story to tell" Kaldur replied calmly.

"It's alright Kaldur" Wally then got up from the medical bed where he had been laying on.

"Let's bring Rob, Supey, and Miss M home"
