So Ash is the obvious shipping bicycle of this fandom, so this was inevitable. Every chapter will be a different pairing involving Ash and depending on popularity, we'll see where it goes! First up is for you AdvanceShipping fans. It's not a favorite pairing of mine, but I don't want to immediately start with my favorites, so Ash x May are first!
Story of May (AdvanceShipping)
"Seriously, Ash! We're lost again! And we've lost track of Max and Brock!"
"Shut up! You had the map! If you want to blame anyone, it should be you!"
May huffed, not wanting to admit that she was, in fact, the one that had gotten them lost. She had the map upside down the whole time and was so furious with herself that she took it out on Ash, since he was the only one nearby. Brock and Max had wandered elsewhere to look for water since they had been running low, but May had persisted that she and Ash move along on the path and for Brock and Max to catch up later. The group had been in this forest since yesterday and she was ready to leave and find a Pokémon Center to relax. She didn't want to have to spend another night in this forest, but now it was nearly inevitable; it was already dark enough to see the stars and they had gotten separated from half of their group. She wanted to cry.
"Dammit, I want to get out of here already…" May began to tear up. She quickly wiped her eyes, not wanting to let Ash see her like this. Not like he already hadn't before, but she hated crying in front of him. It made her feel weak.
"Don't cry, May." Too late. Ash saw the tears. But instead of reprimanding her for getting them lost, he patted her shoulder. "Let's take a break and clear our heads so we can figure out what to do next."
May sniffled and nodded her head. "Okay…"
Ash, May and Pikachu sat down under a giant oak tree. After getting comfortable, Ash opened his knapsack and pulled out some rice balls that Brock made earlier. He only had two left and decided to give one to Pikachu.
"Pika!" Pikachu exclaimed in delight and munched happily on the triangular snack. He stared at the other rice ball and was ready to throw it in his mouth before glancing over at May.
"Here, May," he reached out to her, the other rice ball in hand. "I'm sure you're hungry, we haven't eaten in a few hours."
May blinked her bright blue eyes. "Huh? Don't you want it?"
"No, I've got a little bit of my sandwich left. I'll eat that," he said. The corners of her mouth turned upward at his kindness. She carefully took it out of Ash's hand. "T-thank you…"
"No problem." Ash then reached in his knapsack again and pulled out the 'little' of his sandwich he had left. 'Little' being emphasized because…it really was little. One bite and that sandwich was gone. Ash chuckled.
May looked at him, not sure what to do. She knew he had to be as hungry as she was, but he gave up his remaining rice balls to her and Pikachu. May wasn't sure he'd seen him be so kind before, especially when it came to food, and now she felt terrible for yelling at him earlier for supposedly getting them lost.
"Ash, I'm sorry," May frowned.
"Huh? What for?"
"I yelled at you. I was just upset with myself for getting us lost; it was all my fault, and I took it out on you. And I'm sorry." She felt like crying again. She sure did mess up a lot and she was just about as stubborn as Ash. And now her rashness had gotten her and the others in this situation. "I'm really sorry…"
"Don't worry about it, May. We all make mistakes, y'know?" Ash said. "But hey, it's not all bad. We may not be out of this forest, and we may have gotten separated from Brock and Max, but look at the bright side."
May raised her eyebrow in confusion. "What bright side?"
"Look. From where we're sitting, you can see the stars perfectly."
May glanced up. Ash was right; the night sky was beautiful tonight. Not a cloud in the sky and the stars seemed to be shining exceptionally bright. She grinned.
"Thanks, Ash."
"Huh?" he blinked at her curiously.
"For trying to make me feel better."
"Trying? According to the smile plastered on your face, I'd say I did a good job," Ash boasted.
"Anyway…" May chuckled. She then stared at the rice ball still in her hand. She slowly tore a piece off, trying not to let all the rice split and fall apart. "Here."
"Um…" he looked at the half-rice ball she was holding out to him.
"Take it. It's hard to tear a rice ball in half."
"You're right about that," Ash took the half-rice ball and quickly threw it in his mouth. May did the same with her piece.
"What would we do without Brock?" she said after savoring the flavor of the rice ball. Brock put a spice in it that perfected the taste. It was his best batch of rice balls yet.
"Ha, I'm not sure." Ash laughed, glad to have such a chef in their group. "But, what would I do without May?"
May's face turned beat red. "W-wha-? What do you mean by that?"
"Well, we may fight a lot and have our bouts, but I'm glad we became friends, May. When we do fight, later on it just makes me think of everything I can do to fix it. I don't like being mad at you or knowing that you're mad at me. Don't you feel the same way?" Ash asked.
"O-of course!" May nodded. "I'm glad we're friends, too, Ash…"
Friends? May didn't like that. No, she wanted more than friends. Ash sure had his annoying perks, but overall, he was a really nice person. Someone May really liked a lot.
"Ash…"
"What is it, May?" he turned to look at her.
May quickly leaned in and quickly pecked Ash on the cheek. "I-I'm really glad we're friends, Ash…"
Ash stared at her with his mouth slightly open. "M-May?"
"Hey, Ash, I think we should go look for Brock and Max," the brunette stood up and brushed the dirt off her skirt and biker shorts. "C'mon!"
"O-okay…" Ash said.
"Ash! May!"
"Sis! Ash! Pikachu!"
Brock and Max had been calling out their names for what felt like an hour. Their voices were getting hoarse and they were almost ready to give up.
"Oh, man…I hope Sis is okay…" Max frowned.
"It's okay, Max." Brock patted his shoulders. "As long as they're together, I'm sure they'll be okay."
"But all they do is fight! Are you sure they'll be okay?"
"Pika, pika!" They heard a Pikachu call out and turned at the sound of its voice.
And from behind Pikachu emerged Ash and May from the trees. Hand-in-hand.
Max gasped in surprise, but Brock just smiled at them.
Maybe it was a good thing they got separated.
So, suggestions for the next person for Ash to be paired with are open. And yes, Ash x male pairings are open as well, as with Ash x Pokémon. I just started with a girl so I didn't stir anything up for people who may not like male x male pairings. So, let me know what you thought and make requests!
