She wondered if it was her fate to cry.
To shed countless tears for the only man to ever give her courage, show her loyalty, and love her?
She was weak, that much was a given. A blow from her felt like a lover's caress.
Salty liquid spilled from her pale eyes and leaving tracks down ivory skin, the moisture glistening.
She wanted to drown her sorrows like so many others, to take a drug and let the pain melt away.
She wanted to be more, to have more, to give more, to feel so much more.
She wanted to drop the fear as he marched to battle, for to her he was a hero while to others an enemy.
Desperate desires gave her nothing; neither hope nor time to make the dreams reality.
She wanted to stop him, for the sky to split open and fall upon their heads.
For the storms she feared so to illuminate the sky and deafen her frantic sobbing.
For the feeling of his heart drumming beneath his flesh rather than rain on hers.
For the surprises inspired from his worldly travels that he would make her.
For the strength and safety of his arms as she was carried swiftly across her element.
For the clay beneath her feet bringing her skyward, so close she could almost touch the tides' master.
She wanted it then, now, later, and forever.
"But however hard I want, I know deep down inside I'll never really get more hope or any more time."
So she resigned herself to her fate.
Forever crying,
Forever wanting.
