This is a really random idea I had. I only wrote it really quickly, so it is likely not that good - and full of grammatical errors. Still, it amused me for about 5 minutes. Done at work, because they left me by myself... with nothing to do...
Corpses were gold to the Graverobber. The dead bodies provided the Zydrate which he needed so desperately for business. So, as you can imagine, he felt only a giddy bout of glee at the prospect of some fresh Z when he stumbled upon the body of a young woman, lying in an alleyway, shadows concealing most of her from view.
She looked so very clean, so fresh and pure, as if she had only dropped dead recently, within the last couple of days – that surely her Z would be of such high quality, and thus, a high price. A high bargain. He was grinning as he inched closer to her. Dried blood seemed to coat her skin. Everywhere he looked was covered in dark red blotches. She was lying face down, in a hunched up position, as if she had been in immense pain prior to dying. He gave a strange humming noise, although there was nobody else to hear it. Probably a Zydrate junkie who overdosed. It happened so often, it would not surprise him, if this unidentified woman turned out to be just another addict who couldn't cope with it anymore.
He was right beside her now, his toes aligned with her elbow. He put out a foot, and kicked her sideways, rolling her onto her back to examine her face. She did not turn easily, her arms catching the cold ground as she rolled over, but finally she lay on her back before him, to be examined. What he saw made his head writhe inside his skull.
Shilo Wallace lay dead before him, her brown eyes now black in the dull light. On her face a look of purest agony. Her fingers frozen in their curled up position, and beside her head, was an empty vial… the one she kept her meds in. He could imagine it, her frantic scrabbling for some relief of her agony, only to find nothing to soothe her. Her endless coughing and sobbing and weeping and pleading. Her collapsing. Her writhing and lack of breathing and finally, her dying. And now she lay here to rot.
Shilo Wallace lay dead before him. Her father's legacy finally beaten her.
