Inspired by Wishing-Fire's 100 theme challenge for Kingdom Hearts. 28 – Horror.

"No…" Xion breathed.

It was her fault. If she'd defended herself properly, he wouldn't have had to save her.

Now he stood there, taking the beating that should have been hers.

With a final blow, he killed the vicious heartless with his chakrams. Then to her horror... he fell.

Time and space slowed down. Xion ran over to Axel. Blood was pouring from his side. She tried to stop the bleeding, but only succeeded in soaking her gloves. She stared at the blood in horror and shock. She froze to her inner core.

He looked up at her through lidded eyes. "Hey, Xion," he whispered hoarsely.

"Axel, you can't die," she stared wide eyed, tears trickling down her chin. She cradled his face in her hands, smearing his face. "I'm so sorry. Stay with me, you'll make it. You'll be okay."

Axel sighed, smirking. Reaching up, he brushed her lips with his finger-tips, then slid his hand to hold her cheek gently. His breathing came out labored. "If it's my time…it's my time. Nothing will change that… We'll see, though…" He smirked, "I might live through this…" His eyes slid shut and his hand slipped from her cheek.

"I love you, baby……"

"NOOOO!"

Poor Axel…will he live or will he not? :-O Just kidding. I'm paranoid about being a canon writer. He's just fine. Just nearly died from his wounds. ;)
