Skies are crying,
I am watching,
Catching teardrops in my hands.
Only silence, as it's ending,
Like we never had a chance.
Do you have to make me feel
Like there's nothing left of me?
Catlaid in her bed sobbing, she was tired of it. She had been abused for too long. Her parents both beat her all the time and at school she was bullied. She touched her fresh cut from her father, who threw a margarita glass at her legs. It still had glass in it. She pulled herself up and looked at her bedroom door.
You can take everything I have,
You can break everything I am,
Like I'm made of glass,
Like I'm made of paper.
Go on and try to tear me down.
I will be rising from the ground,
Like a skyscraper,
Like a skyscraper.
She threw her bedroom door open and stormed down the hallway, wiping the tears from her chocolate brown eyes. She flew down the stairs and ignored the pain. Her Dad looked at her with a disgusted look on his cruel face.
"What?" he scowled.
Cat sighed. She needed to do it.
"I'm sick and tired of you abusing me! I'm a person! But you, barely! I need love and respect and I'm sure not getting it here!"
As the smoke clears,
I awaken,
And untangle you from me.
Would it make you feel better
to watch me, while I bleed?
All my windows still are broken,
But I'm standing on my feet.
You can take everything I have,
You can break everything I am,
Like I'm made of glass,
Like I'm made of paper.
Go on and try to tear me down.
I will be rising from the ground,
Like a skyscraper,
Like a skyscraper.
She pushed past her Dad who stood and raised his hand like he was going to hit her. She could care less about him. She ran into the bedroom and found her mom reading a book. Her Mom peeked up from the book and grimaced.
"What do you need?" she said, sounding disgusted at the word you. Cat frowned and yanked the book from her Mom's grip and threw it to the floor.
"You make me feel like less than a human when you beat me! That's why I'm leaving this house of horror forever! I'm done with you and Dad!" She turned on her heel and saw her Dad standing in the doorframe, blocking her way.
"You're not going anywhere."
Go run, run, run.
I'm gonna stay right here,
Watch you disappear.
Yeah, ohh.
Go run, run, run.
Yeah, it's a long way down,
But I am closer to the clouds,
Up here.
You can take everything I have,
You can break everything I am,
Like I'm made of glass,
Like I'm made of paper.Ohhh
"Fine!" Cat yelled. "I'll just find another way out." She scanned the room and approached the window and opened it. She peeked out; it was a long way down. Cat decided against it. Maybe. Just maybe… She thought again. Then with a swift move, she stuck her legs out the window and sat on the windowsill.
"Bye." She released the window and dropped.
Go on and try to tear me down.
I will be rising from the ground,
Like a skyscraper,
Like a skyscraper.
(Like a skyscraper)
Like a skyscraper,
Like a skyscraper.
She landed on her hands and knees and felt pain surge through her body. She didn't care. She was gone, she didn't want anything from inside, she wanted to run, and never look back. So that's what she did.
