Just some thoughts about the "Potterocalypse".
The universe of Harry Potter is one that has captivated a vast majority of the entire world. It is not only something fantasmic and sensational, but also a prime example of true writing art. You see, 'true writing art' is that kind of writing that not only shows the highlights and glorious moments of the characters lives, but also shows their after-effects of the decisions they choose. That is true literary genius. To show the characters as they were, to show them as they are, and to show them as they could have been. And, to me...J.K. Rowling's fantasy world that captivated our world, just by creating the simple 'Boy who Lived', is exactly that.
So, yeah. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 shows tonight, as it has been in certain places, and will continue to show everywhere else.
And, yes the magic shall live on.
However, no more big-budget, visually stunning movies will be made. No more fantastic novels telling of Harry Potter and all that surrounded him that us nerds had to get our hands on by the first day will be written. No more dreams and wishes of getting that letter from Hogwarts. No more crying in foetal position because a simple girl didn't get her letter on her birthday from a half-giant. No more fantastic stories that captivated, and practically created an era. No more films that will either make us throw a tantrum because that's how bad we thought it was (here's to you, OOTP), and no more joyous celebration because-finally-they kissed. No more wondering if they'll ever get together, no more wondering who's next, no more wondering which side prevails. Not a single Quidditch game will exist after this, and no one will know what happens to Hogwarts even after our heroes' children have attended. No one will know what happens in our laid-to-rest heroes' and villains' afterlife. Sure, the magic will live on through the fans, no matter how young or old. But, the actual idea itself, the actual life that we wished we could lead, the torture of waiting for the next sentence of the next paragraph of the next chapter of the next book... That's what ends tonight. And, that's what really breaks my heart.
Now the pain we all feel, reminds me-reminds us-that though we may come from different places, and speak in different tongues...Our hearts beat as one. The bonds of friendship that we have made due to this amazing world that was created will be more important than ever. You remember that, and this dream-turned-reality will not die in vain because the magic will not die. The love that we share for not just the titular character, but also the universe that surrounds him will never disappear. It will forever remain here with us, in our hearts and in our minds as we celebrate the end of an era. You remember that, and we shall forever celebrate and remember a world so captivating, so life-changing, and so outstandingly beautiful-a world that is, literally, just a page away.
