Dear J.K. Rowling,

Never again will there be a phenomenon like your books.

Harry Potter is one of those books that will live forever as a classic of literature.

Years from now, I will still take my worn copy of The Philosopher's Stone from the shelf and read it again.

And again.

The characters, the plot, everything about this magical series is perfect.

For me, Harry, Ron, and Hermione were just as real as any of my classmates.

As a girl that wasn't exactly the prettiest in class, and cursed with glasses and braces, Hermione inspired me to embrace who I was and hold my head high.

Harry taught me that friendship, loyalty, and courage would triumph over evil.

Ron was the friend that always has something funny to say, to cheer me up when I had a bad day.

You've touched so many lives, including mine.

If it weren't for you, countless children all over the world would still hate reading.

If it weren't for you, Cassandra Clary would never have become a published author.

If it weren't for you, Darren Criss would never have become a successful actor.

Today, your fans start out drawing fanart, playing wizard rock, and writing fanfiction.

A few years down the road, they'll be professional artists, musicians, and authors.

Nothing we can do can ever repay that gift to us.

Tomorrow, the last Harry Potter film will premiere.

It's the last movie, but it isn't the last of the magical world my generation grew up in.

Thank you for completing my childhood.

Love,

Me, and every other die-hard Potterite in the world (and there are many.)
