I looked around the garage, it was pretty quiet. I was still here because I just didn't feel like going to the races. I heard a soft stream of cussing coming from underneath the purple and black 1970 Dodge Charger in the corner. It was the newest car in the collection for our team. I chuckled, Danielle, who the car belonged to, was underneath it working on the undercarriage. I guess it wasn't going well for her. I walked over and leaned against the side of the car. "Having problems?" I heard her let out a grunt before "Shit!"

I rolled my eyes and chuckled. I let my eyes wonder down her denim covered legs, they were toned and that could easily be seen through the jeans. There was oil on the thighs in the shape of hands and fingerprints and her knees were covered in dirt from kneeling to change the tires earlier, it was nice to meet a girl that wasn't a girly girl…and that wasn't Letty.

"Can you hand me that wrench on the hood?" Her voice cut through my thoughts. I nodded and picked up the wrench. I was about to place it into her outstretched hand before I lifted it back up to my height.

"What's the magic word?" She rolled herself and the creeper she was lying on out from under the car. She had a smudge of oil underneath her right eye on her cheek, her blue and green eyes were glaring up at me.

"Give me the damn wrench!" I raised an eyebrow at her. She sighed, "Please." I smirked and handed it to her.

"See, that wasn't so hard now, was it." She rolled her eyes before rolling back under the car muttering something about pervert. Before I could reply I heard the sound engines coming our way. I looked across the street at our house and saw white, red, maroon, and blue cars park next to my yellow Skyline. I nudged her calf with my foot.

"The others are back." I heard her drop the wrench, another string of cuss words leaving her mouth. I rolled my eyes, "Maybe you should take a break. You're tired and screwing up." She rolled out from under the car, glaring at me but this time standing up, causing the creeper to roll back under her car slightly.

"I don't need a break, I need this flippin' car finished so I can race. I'm tired of having to use someone else's car or not racing at all." I nodded, holding my hands up in surrender.

"Alright, sorry." She has both ADHD and anger management issues, we're working on trying to get her help for both but she refuses. "Come on, let's go inside. You like cooking, Mia's gonna need help." She looked to be thinking before nodding. I smiled, she could never say no.

I started walking back to the house, Danni behind me, her heels clicking. I looked back at her; she was pulling her black on purple hair out of a ponytail. It was different but it wasn't a bright 'here I am' purple, it was a deep, darker purple that suited her and went well with the black.

This woman is something I've never seen before. She was strong and independent like Letty and Mia, but she was also relying on me to get her through those times when she can't alone. I held out my hand to her, slowly coming to a stop. She stopped a few steps behind me before looking down at my hand. She slowly placed hers in mine, lacing our fingers together.

I smiled as we walked across the street to the house. I opened the door before letting her in, the house smelled amazing already.

"Danni? Great, can you come help me? Please!" Mia's voice sounded strained from the kitchen. Danni looked back at me before shrugging, slowly unlacing our fingers walking towards the kitchen. I watched as she pushed Vince onto the couch and gave Jesse a quick kiss on the cheek before disappearing around the corner.

Yep, that girl was something else.
