Shadows

AN: Well, I wanted to write a story for Hestia. In my opinion, she IS one of the greatest Olympians, and certainly the most important. She deserves more credit, so here's my shot at her feelings.
Set after Percy Jackson's death.
Disclaimer: I don't own PJO.
Percy Jackson has long since passed away. One of the only people who actually seemed to care for her was gone, and it wasn't like she could speak to him. After all, those still in the mortal world could not fret with those in the Underworld. It just didn't work that way.
He, along with Nico di Angelo, was one of the first people in centuries to make her feel appreciated. Granted, the first time he came to camp, he didn't even notice she was there, but once they met, he did nearly everything he could to honor her.
He was the first person since she'd given up her throne for Dionysus to deem her the Last Olympian.
Deep down inside, she had always known her role. She was the peacemaker of the family—the one willing to give up anything of hers for the sake of others. In retrospect, she and Percy Jackson were quite similar. Both weren't necessarily the most important(that's how it seemed, at least), but both were needed if Olympus were to survive. He was the Hero of Olympus; and she was the Last Olympian—and the most important of all.
(And he was one of the first to figure that out.)
But of course, Percy Jackson was just a mere demigod, another person who would pass away and fade. She, on the other hand, was an immortal god; never-ending and limitless.
It would be centuries before a boy like him came around again.
She would once again be forgotten, and Percy Jackson was no longer there to remind the world of her importance. She begins to fade into the background once again, just like every other time. She was foolish to think that this time, maybe just this time, she would be remembered again. Perhaps Percy Jackson would give her the recognition she deserved and secretly longed for.
She won't fade, so long as home lives on. The fire and warmth of family and home still burns on, and so does she. She won't fade anytime soon.
But slowly, she fades back into the shadows. The Last and most important Olympian, once again forgotten.
It always ends this way, huh?
