It took awhile for Carly to convince Jennifer to come back to the apartment. She lured her in with a promise to make a guest appearance on a new segment called "Guess This Cat" which was all about guessing what type of cat the contestant was petting based only on the feel of its cat hair. Even after this strange proposition Jennifer made sure there were a couple hard rules set in place.

"I don't want to see your brother, if I see him, I'm leaving and you'll have to find someone else to do this skit." She said while she and the trio prepared for the upcoming show. "And I don't want you to try to talk me into seeing your brother again. What's done is done and I just want to move on."

Carly just smiled and nodded. Better to lure her into a false sense of security that will end up in her happiness than tell her the truth and let her walk away forever.

The show started out like it did with any other day. Freddie counted down from five and Sam was jumping up and down, trying to contain her enthusiasm for the new show. Jennifer sat off to the side, checking her cell phone for any messages and trying not to feel awkward for being in her ex-boyfriend's apartment. Every now and then she would sneak a glance at the glass door as if expecting Spencer to come barreling through to beg for forgiveness.

However, she hadn't seen Spencer at all since she walked through the door that morning. In fact, it seemed to be that only Carly, Sam, and Freddie were in the apartment. She told herself she should take a deep breath and relax. After all, she was going to be on iCarly in a few minutes, she didn't want to seem stiff.

"Alright ladies and gentlemen," Carly finally announced, "we have a special guest here in the iCarly studios. You may or may not know her-."

"Probably not, she only dated Carly's older brother for about a year and a half." Sam added, earning her a jab to the ribs from Carly. "What? It's true!"

Freddie shook his head and looked back at Jennifer to mouth 'Sorry' quickly.

"Anyways, let's welcome my friend, Jennifer Edwards!"

Taking a deep breath Jennifer plastered a smile on her lips and joined Carly and Sam in front of the camera.

"Hey guys I'm excited to be here today!" She exclaimed, waving to the camera. She had to admit, she was good at faking this.

"So Jennifer, what did we bring you here for?" Sam asked her, a certain gleam in her eye that unsettled Jennifer.

"Uh, well you guys told me I'd be playing in a new segment today." She replied.

"Yeah, well, unfortunately that isn't why you're on iCarly tonight." Carly said, patting her on the back, "Though 'Guess this Cat' could be a really good segment to have."

"Fredward, write that down." Sam snapped quickly at Freddy, who rolled his eyes.

"So, I'm not going to be playing 'Guess this Cat'?" Jennifer said, utterly confused.

"No, we actually have a much bigger surprise for you today." Sam said before screaming "SPENCER GET YOUR BUTT OUT HERE."

Jennifer felt her stomach sink to her toes and her heart rise in her throat. No, nonono. She did not want to see that man. She didn't want to see him ever again. How could Carly be so heartless as to record this on her web show? Now thousands of people were going to watch her confront this man who had thoroughly broken her heart.

"Carly, I don't think this is a good idea. I don't want to do this in front of a camera." She said, pulling away from Carly and heading towards the door.

"No, wait," Carly started, grabbing her hand, "Just give it a second ok? It gets better I promise."

Maybe it was the fact that Carly was giving her this heart breaking smile that made her feel guilty for leaving or maybe it was the fact that in her own cruel way, Jennifer wanted to see Spencer again but she found herself agreeing to stay just to see where this was heading.

Spencer came out from behind the curtain looking much like a chastised child. His hands were clasped in front of him and he was staring at the floor, chewing his lip. Briefly he looked up at Jennifer and tried to smile.

"Jenn," he started, "I'm really sorry about what happened but I know that sorry isn't going to give you your job offer back."

Jennifer glanced over at the eye of the camera. How many people were watching right now? How many would know her personal life after tonight?

"Look, I know you probably never want to see me again and that's totally fair. But just let me make it up to you and then you can leave." Spencer said, not making eye contact.

"I'm here aren't I?" she said, unable to keep the anger out of her voice. "Just show me already."

Spencer nodded and vanished behind the door he had just come from. Confused, Jennifer looked around trying to figure out what he was doing. Freddie, Sam, and Carly all just smiled at her. Obviously they had been let in on the joke, but she was left blinking into Freddie's camera looking like a total idiot in front of thousands of people.

"Guys, seriously what's-?"

At that moment Spencer came back with a woman following closely behind him. She had brown, chin length hair and looked extremely familiar to Jennifer.

Taking a deep breath, Spencer began to explain.

"When you left, I felt terrible—,"

"As you should have." Jennifer added quickly, feeling the need to say something.

"Right. I wanted to make things right. I went through so many different ideas to try and get you back but everything I came up with sounded wrong. Finally I realized the only way to make you not angry at me was to fix what I had broken. So I emailed Ms. Brahman and explained what had happened. It took a lot of explaining and groveling to get her to agree to come here today but I finally managed to explain to her how dedicated you are to your job on our local paper and how taking you on for an internship would be good not only for you but also for them."

He turned to Marjorie before stepping back and letting her speak.

"Jennifer, this man told me how much you were looking forward to this internship. Unfortunately the deadline has passed for the interview," she looked back at Spencer who had the decency to look extremely guilty, "However, I think arrangements can be made for you to begin work in the next month. That is of course, you and I can sit down and talk beforehand and if I can get the contact information of your employer. If everything works out, you should be on a plane to New York in a few short weeks."

There was no way to explain the way Jennifer was feeling. She felt like she was going to vomit or maybe pass out. Could this be real? She resisted the urge to pinch herself or ask Carly to do it for her. Wordlessly, she mouthed nonsense at everyone.

Say something, Jenn. She told herself, you're just looking like an idiot and I'm sure that will do wonders for your future interview with Marjorie.

"Wow." She finally managed to say. "Uh…ok. Yeah. That—That sounds great."

Marjorie smiled at her and patted her on the shoulder, "You should thank your boyfriend, Miss Edwards. He just saved your career."

Jennifer nodded half-heartedly and turned to Spencer, who looked like he was trying to melt back into the wall.

"You did all of this for me?" She finally murmured to him.

Spencer let out a small laugh in spite of himself.

"Jenn, I would do anything for you." He said, "But mostly, I just wanted you to be happy."

Jennifer had moved away weeks ago. She had told herself she hated Spencer Shay and she would never see him again. She had decided that the story of Jennifer Edwards and Spencer Shay was over forever. Yet she found herself smiling at the man and wrapping her arms around his neck in an embrace she never thought she'd feel again.

As she buried her face in his neck and burst into tears she heard Carly and Sam signing off.

"I'm Sam,"

"And I'm Carly, and that was my brother making his ex-girlfriend's dreams come true."

Emma, where have you been?

Where have I been? Where have you been?

So, is this where my constant stream of excuses goes? Oh, alright cool.

Hey guys, so as a recent reviewer pointed out I haven't updated this story in about half a year. Uhhhhhhh, whoops. Anyhoo, I plan on finishing this story, hopefully. But honestly I have the attention span of a goldfish. One second I'm like "Ooh, new vlogbrothers video!", the next I'm like "Shit, college plans!", and then the next I'm like "Must. Write. FanFiction."

I hope this makes up for me being AWOL. No worries, I've got my diploma, I'm going to orientation for college next weekend and then my ENTIRE summer is free. Sorta.

Love you all, thanks for continuing to read my stuff. Don't forget to leave a review!
