A/N: Holy crow an update! FINALLY! Anyone left out there reading this fic. ENJOY! (Wee bit excited.)
Gambit-20
Gambit thrust his rod over his shoulders protecting his back from the sharp slashes of the cloned wolverine. Once doing that, he spun around, his rod pulsating as he let his energy course through it. Letting out a scream he slammed the rod in his opponents chest sending him flying down the hallway.
Warren drew what strength he had his sights on the telepath. As he went to strike her he was immediately stopped grabbing his head he let out a pained yell collapsing where he was. Gambit didn't even blink as he unleashed his deck of cards on the imposter impairing her attack as she crumpled to the floor in agony.
Not wasting time Gambit once more supported Warren, hurrying as fast as they could down the corridor. Both cried out in surprise as Kitty emerged beneath them, catching hold of Gambit's leg causing both to loose there footing. Warren reached out snatching the clone and drawing the girl tight against his body and jumped upward turning himself around so the clone was greeted against the ceiling. He slammed her has hard as he could before throwing her into a reactor that unleashed a power surge to engulf her body. Warren raised his arms up too block the glare that greeted him before falling back awkwardly against the wall.
Gambit gave a reassuring smile to the mutant but he let out a startled yell as a invisible force grabbed hold of him and dragged him swiftly down the hall. His weapon suddenly out of his grasp as he was whipped around the corner. Reaching once more in his pocket he took as handful of cards but his ability to follow threw on his attack was hindered as he was effortlessly taken advantaged off. His eyes landed on the red headed mutant wolverine right beside her claws unsheathed and waiting to end the battle.
The thief fought for all it was worth as he was brought closer to his ill fate. In a desperate attempt he brought forth his power his body surrounded in his kinetic energy. As he finally reached his destination he thrust out both his hands grabbing hold of wolverines claws releasing the pent up energy sending it into the feral mutant who unlike his double could not regenerate. The clone let out a strangled cry as he was taken over by the attack then was gone in a shocking glare. It wasn't over as Gambit was raised in the air a pressure placed on his throat. He fought to remove the pressure around his neck but only clutched at air. His strength was weakening with each passing second then without warning the pressure ended causing him to fall to his knees, gasping for air, he raised a hand to his throat looking up in shock to see his rod impaled in the telepaths' heart. Awkwardly getting to his feet he watched her collapse before him not moving. Looking behind him he saw Warren gasping from the exertion.
Gambit walked over to the limp form removing the rod from the clone.
"Gambit... we need..." Warren began before he sunk to the floor.
Gambit quickly came in front of him. Placing a hand on the mutants shoulder. "You stay with me now."
Warren barely nodded as he felt himself lifted off the ground. Gambit adjusted himself as he lay Warren over his shoulder. His rod held tightly in his other hand.
"I'll get you out of here."
X-men
Forge hands shook around the pistol he held. As the clone of bishop was nothing but ice before him.
Bobby came to knelt down to examine toad. "Not quite the original."
"Is he dead? He's dead right?" Forge asked as Bishop's corpse still lay in pieces.
Magneto tossed the helmet from his clone in the corner. "There is no match greater than one's self."
Forge rolled his eyes. "While you two are marvelling at what just happened. I have to attend to my baby."
Bobby watched as Forge made his way to the jet. Then turned to look at Magneto but was surprised to see him gone.
"Great he baled on us!"
"Awe man!" Forge yelled.
"What is it?" Bobby called out running over to the x-jet.
"System is shot, no response."
"So you can't fix it, great." Bobby replied not amused.
"I didn't say that...it will just need some TLC. Go find the others I'll figure it out."
"Got it. Stay safe!" Bobby stated before running out of the room.
After defeating the clones that threatened them. Rogue and the others managed to make their way through the corridor.
"Sinister better hope I don't find him or he will be feeling the full extent of my blades embedded into his skull." Logan fumed.
"Get in line. All those mutants exploited for thier powers. It makes me sick to think about." Scott answered.
"After all this time, the amount of mutant disappearances. So distracted by the sentinel threat we couldn't get passed the facade." Storm stated as she shook her head. "What kind of man lives for such destruction?"
"One with a vendetta to pay." Rogue answered.
Suddenly the sound of footsteps was heard. Everyone prepared themselves as the steps came closer. Pressing themselves against the wall Cyclops raised a hand to his visor. Wolverine growled unsheathing his claws. On the edge of attack the culprits rounded the corner.
Gambit in a flash brought up his rod moving to strike Cyclops ducking out of the way of the optic blast that greeted him. Hands gripped tightly on his weapon eyes igniting some as he glared at the mutants.
"I killed your girlfriend...I won't hesitate to kill you, you one eyed freak!" Gambit threatened whipping his rod a few times in the air.
Scott looked at Storm than back at the cajun. "Gambit? Gambit it's us. We're not clones."
"Takes more than just words to convince me of that." Gambit threw out.
"We're fine you idiot." Logan said sheathing his claws.
At the sight of the feral mutant Gambit slightly relaxed then saw storm and rogue a few steps away. Reluctantly he straightened.
"I'm not sure what to believe in this place...but at the moment we need to get him out of here." Gambit said as he hurried to wear he laid Warren on the floor.
At the sight before her Storm gasped. "Angel!"
"My god, what have they done?" Scott stated as he helped Gambit support the injured mutant.
Gambit signalled to Wolverine to come take his place. Logan took up his spot. Taking rod in hand once more gambit looked at the x-men.
"Get him to safety and leave this place." Gambit ordered.
"Wait where are you going?!" Rogue demanded as she took hold of his arm.
"To destroy this place."
"How?"
Gambit smiled slightly. "The only way I know how."
Then in a instant, before Rogue could even react. Gambit drew her to him and planted a hard kiss against her lips. Even though it was a second it left the familiar static feeling of his power she felt from him before. Stunned she met his eyes for a moment a sly smile on his lips before he dashed down a separate corridor.
"C'mon we have to get Warren out of here." Scott ordered as he pressed a his comlink... "Cyclops to Iceman you read?"
"Iceman here."
"Did you find the X-jet? And can she fly?"
"Yes to the first, uncertain to the second. Forge is working on it. Magneto ditched us during our battle."
"Where are you now?"
"I'm on my way to find Kitty after what I've dealt with I want to make sure the rest are ok. Are you guys holding up?" Bobby explained.
"We're ok but Warren he's in critical condition. The sooner we get him back to the jet the better."
"Right get For-"
Cyclops was alarmed at the sudden abruptness to the link. "Iceman?! Bobby!"
Cursing under his breath he clicked again on his link. "Forge it's Scott where are you?"
"I'm not sure, I heard everything on my end. As soon as I get this baby system to full power I will activate the tracking system. Hang in there."
Warren groaned bringing concern out even from Logan. "We can't stand out in the open like this we have to find a secure spot away from danger."
"Agreed. Storm lead the way and Rogue..." Cyclops trailed off as he caught no sign of the young mutant. "Where is she?!"
"No doubt went after Gambit." Storm answered stepping in to take Wolverine's place. "Go after her. Scott and I will tend to Warren.
"This day just keep sgetting better and better." Wolverine grumbled before he took off in the direction where he last saw his team mate.
"Lets hurry." Scott said.
Gambit had just entered the reactor room when a voice called out to him. Turning in time he saw Rogue come up behind him.
"Rogue what on earth-" he was rudely stopped as a slap came across his face.
"How dare you do that. Kissing me without permission." Rogue fumed.
"Not that this conversation opens up tempting avenues, but I have base to destroy so if you don't mind." Gambit ended moving to continue his mission.
"I'm not going to let you lead out this kamikaze mission. I'm helping and that is the end of it." Rogue concluded as she pushed passed him... "C'mon!"
Gambit simply followed her down the long isle to the reactor. Easily coming up to her. I need to access the panel and light this place up. If you want to stay with me well...it will literally be your funeral."
Rogue glanced over at him then suddenly both came to a stop as dark laughter greeted them. On guard they watched as a figure emerged from the shadows and in front of them.
"Well bravo Gambit...i certainly am impressed by your efforts. This however, is where I draw the line."
Sinister came forward and with a single touch to his wrist. The walls around them began to move inward. The isle suddenly shifting and breaking apart from the plat form. With quick reflexes Gambit grabbed hold of Rogues arm.
"I'm sorry you got caught up in this cherie." Gambit sincerely stated the look in his eyes matched the kindness in his words. Rogue couldn't place it...before she could reply. Gambit did the unthinkable.
"GAMBIT!" she screeched before he sent her plummeting over the edge!
