Underneath the shroud of darkness, Kanda let the forbidden tears run down his cheeks. He let his guard down in the safety of the darkness, he let his emotions surface after trying to hide them all this time. Why did he feel such sorrow in his heart? This cursed emotion ate away at his insides, leaving him a hollow shell in its path. The sound of his last words echoed in his head over and over. Like a broken record. "Kanda, I love you." Those simple words sent another wave of tears; those simple words were killing him softly. When he closed his eyes he saw the same bloody scene play over and over on his eye lids. The same scene that haunted him every waking moment of his life, even in his dream.

He saw himself under a moonless and dark sky as he sat there helpless watching the love of his life lay dying on the ground from the deadly fight with the Earl of Millennium that was prophesied to be his destiny. The war was finally over and the earl had been defeated but at the cost of the destroyer of time's life. Kanda had never felt so weak and powerless to help his love. "Please hold on a little longer, you can't die."

His love reached up to gently touch his face. Kanda's dark navy blue eyes softened at the sight of the others metallic gray orbs. Kanda could see the visible pain and sadness swirling in the younger teen's eyes.

"Kanda, I am so sorry to leave you" he said softly as his eyes filled with sorrowful tears and he gazed upward." No don't say that, you are not leaving me dammit."Crimson blood poured out of the wound and colored the ground a deep horrible red. The blood kept gushing out no matter what Kanda did to stop it. The horrible red stained Kanda's coat and hands but he didn't care. His love's voice came out in ragged."Kanda I love you so much, please let me go" he said in almost a whisper. "No, I can't do that" Kanda growled through the tears threatening to fall. "Good-bye Kanda" he whispered softly as his body relaxed and grew listless. "No…..NO!" Kanda screamed as he shook the teen's already dead body. "Wake up….please please wake up" he screamed as he cried harder than he ever had before than he ever had in so many years, cradling the dead body of his love. The world seem to have come to a stand-still as Kanda sat there and mourned his beloved, sitting in the fallen red blood of his love.

It had been a month since his funeral and everyone at the Black Order mourned the death of their comrade. No one knew the sorrow that was rapidly growing in Kanda's heart. The pain that he felt everyday that was slowly eating at his every soul. No one could guess that Kanda would wake up screaming his lovers name in the middle of the night. The samurai became more distant than usual. Even Lavi's constant annoying talking almost never got a reaction out of him. Living without the only thing that light up his world was slowly killing him. The bond they had shared was wrapping around his neck like a snake and crushing the life out of him. He had taken the breath right out of him and left a hole where his heart should be. Every touch shared between them was a doubled-edged sword, cutting him every time he remembered it. He was his other half, the one that brought him out of the darkness. His own personal lighthouse to guide him through the fog. Kanda could not live without him. He had been and still was his angel. The splash of white in his otherwise world of gray. The escape from his own personal hell where he had been trapped his whole life. Kanda's whole life had changed because of him. Now the teen was gone and Kanda's life was plagued with darkness and pain. Kanda curled up in the shroud of darkness were it was safe and cried. Cried for the second time in a month. He remembered the snow white hair, cursed left eye, and misshapen left arm he had grown to love. He mourned for the loss of his comrade, his enemy, his moyashi, and the love of his life. Allen Walker
